Hi guys.
I'm trying to open a .XA file in the game Dance!Dance!Dance!(J) [SLPM-86150].
I tried everything I could find in the Internet (jpsxdec, PSmplay, PSound, pstr, PSX Multi Converter, PSX Hacking Tools, psxplay, psxtulz, psxv120, ReVOLUX, superxa2wav, xa_audio_converter, xa2wav, ...)
but I simply can`t open, nor play, nor convert the file. I just want, at least, listen the musics.
I used CDmage to extract the .XA file from the .bin image and It reported no errors. After this, jpsxec started to inform that the "Disc Image does not have raw headers-audio may not be detected". It report no errors during indexing, but founds no sound!
I tried to open the file directly from the .bin image using jpsxdec, but It coudn`t read it well and returned errors.
I searched for a player that runs on the PSX too, remembered action replay and gameshark media player feature, but they doesn`t played the .XA file, nothing again...
Will I have to edit/add a header to the file to make it playable/convertable?
What I do? I already spent a week searching for a solution!
I would appreciate a help.
Thanks.
I can`t play/convert PSX .XA files

They might not be using XA. I would take a look at it for you, but I don't have any time.daytonaUSA wrote:Hi guys.

Maybe give me a few weeks and I'll come back to it at some point (if I remember).

Could you really do something for me? I'd be pretty grateful!
By the way...
I tried the PSMplay again to open the Dance!Dance!Dance!'s MASTER.XA, where my so wanted musics supposedly are, and It reported as unsupported.
But It opens OPENING.STR, and with sound, but doesn't opens GOOD.STR. These two .STRs were extracted with UltraISO and the three files were in C:\.
I tried to open the files X50P.STR and BGM.XA from Megaman X 5(U)[SLUS 013.34] .bin image through PSmplay, and It reported as unsupported again, but when I used the pressed-media pirated Megaman X 5 disc, It worked (didn't play all BGM.XA musics)!
Inuyasha(J)(pressed-media pirated disc) worked too (for the unique .STR file, no .XA present). Twisted Metal 4(U)(.bin image and retail disc) and Twisted Metal 3(U) (retail disc) didn't work. I burned Dance!Dance!Dance! in a sligthly scratched CD-RW; didn't work...
I tried XA Audio Converter again to open the Dance!Dance!Dance!'s OPENING.STR, and just the music plays...,
in MASTER.XA, nothing plays... and about GOOD.STR, It says "There is no sound in this file.".
Anyway, I'll be waiting for a response.
