Aergan:
If I had the time, would it be a good thing to have the ROM boot straight into PSXSerial when it detects comms?
Been toying with the idea of modifying XFlash similarly rather than continuing to implement upload features natively.

...About PSEXE.COM, it does not work, but I already write a new software like PSEXE.COM, name PSEXEU.EXE
Aah, this is what I was getting at - because you're doing pretty specific sequences like send, recv, send, send, recv send and the card will lock up if you get it wrong it's a bit of a pain ...

Re: Xlink 95 (v1.1) patched
Sure, lemme know if it works!
Also, if you've not desoldered every hirose in Australia, I'd be interested to know if Xplorer V2, V3(Pro), V4 (FX) made any difference to you. I get the feeling I'm having more luck with the FX cart because they're slightly faster, so make up for any drop in speed ...

What's the plan with XLinkUSB, Greg?
I tried using LTP emulation with catflap over a serial connection, but obviously having to send the Strobe/Ack sequence values in the same stream slowed things down lots... and it's already pretty slow.

Xlink 95 (v1.1) patched (Update: Region Free)
http://i.imgur.com/8dTzclH.png
Update 2:
Patched to remove region restrictions, and to allow flashing of non-FX roms onto FX carts, etc.
Update 1:
Xlink 95 patched to use GiveIO.sys and run on NT systems.
Why?
Well, besides the mem card manager and stuff, you have a live in-game ...

Heheh, I've only got the modchip switch so far but that sounds pretty cool... never realised it was possible.
Probably won't be done this weekend - it's kinda time consuming but I don't want it to drag on too long either... so uhm.. soon!

Re: UniROM 0.2 [new menu, nocash unlock, fastboot]
Amazing work, is it possible to modify and make a caetla + secret unlock only that would fit into the 128kb flash?
Yes! It's planned to be bundled with the next UniROM release (saves me hassle of maintaining separate things), but I wanted to tidy up UniROM's boot sequence a little and have both ...

For the sake of completeness - about a month in now with the PSX chasis grounded to the PC's chasis. No nasty shocks or surprises =)

@Shadow:
Cheers, it's actually good to know that others have had odd spark as well.
I guess since I'd normally have the cable already attached when plugging it in (say I trashed it or something ), it couldn't discharge so easily through the DB25 shell like you do.

Re: Playstation CPU reversing [56k warning]
I'm also pretty sure that the big block diagram of the PSX that Sony used in their early developer presentations had the GTE drawn as part of the CPU block, but I can't seem to find a copy of it online to check.

Heyhey, just a wee update incase anyone's actually reading/cares/wishes to laugh/is curious.
I was speaking with nocash who pointed out that the PSX's ground is floating and mentioned his father has a TV which likes to shock people through the headphone jack. Replacement mobo arrived, so I got out ...

Electric shock from Xplorer, fried motherboard, sadface.
A few days ago, I thought I'd got a bit of an electric shock when plugging the parallel cable into the side of an XPlorer FX cart. It was pretty late, I'd been up a long time, I figured I'd just pinched some skin or something and ignored it.
Then last night, with a different XPlorer cart, I went to ...

Hahaha, I when making that post that I didn't actually know the name of the coils that aim the beam. But yeah those guys.
Was wondering if all their fluctuating would be picked up... not necessarily in a dangerous way, but just in any noticable way.

Re: CRT RGB Modification/Hack [56K Warning]
I was thinking more like a little interference from the steering coils (or whatever you call the ones which deflect the beam)- not so much the degausser since that'd be about turning itself off by the time you had everything switched on?

Lol, I was just wondering if the electromagnets around the tube were likely to cause any sort of interference in the coils.

Re: Is this thing worth buying?
Wait what?
If you're dead set on ASM, why not just do it on an actual playstation?
There's ASMPSX from the PSY-Q SDK (see downloads section) or spASM (by Hitmen, google it) and you can test on actual hardware or practice on no$psx which is accurate as all hell and has a debugger built in: http ...

What sorta efficiency would you get there?Shadow wrote:By "decop", you mean, decouple?
If you want complete isolation, a 1:1 winding transformer is required.
Also, would interference be an issue around the arse end of the telly?
