ADDING YOUR OWN MUSIC SAMPLES TO MUSIC 2000 PS1 GAME

Post by tom23 » March 26th, 2025, 1:07 am

HI i am new to this site and i dont think anyone else has asked this question

i have copyed the ps1 game music 2000 to my computer as a iso file and i have extracted it as a folder with all the game files.

what i want to do if i can do it can i add my own music samples to the music 2000 ps1 game i have some wav audio files on my computer and i would like to use them on my music 2000 ps1 game.

this ps1 game music 2000 does come with music samples on the cd game but i want to add my own music samples and then put it onto a cd disc with music 2000 ps1 game

i am not sure how to do it and i dont know were the music samples are located in the music 2000 ps1 folder
so can i add my own music samples to this game and then burn it to a cd disc or i could just turn it into a bin file and use a ps1 emulator to play the game.

i have took pictures of the music 2000 ps1 folder i am not sure were the music samples are located i would like to replace the music samples on the music ps1 game folder with the wav files but i know it would not work just like that would i have to convert the wav files to a ps1 format how can it be done. if anyone knows a way around it please help me.

Your looking for audio files like VAG (PS1's wav fromat) headers in a hex editor, but that probably wont work if they stripped it or compressed them.

I though you music 2000 lets you sample from a CD?

Hi ok it is just I know it can be done cos on this website
https://infu.fyi/music-software-ps1-nerdy

It does say how to rip the audio files from the cd disc
But what I want to do is replace the ps1 audio files with the instruments that I have which are WAV files which I know I need to convert them but not sure what format or how to do it then I want to make a bin file so I can Lauch it with a ps1 emulator or but it onto a cd disc.

And also on the site way back machine someone has able to rip the ps1 audio files to WAV format
https://archive.org/details/music-2000- ... 4k-wav-rip

So I know it can be done cos someone was able to rip the ps1 audio files off the music 2000 cd ps1 game to WAV Format
But I want to do the other way I want to add my own music instruments sounds to the music 2000 ps1 game but I am not sure how to do it the website I found above infu.fyi does say it can be done it says you can replace the ps1 wad file with your wad file but the ps1 wad tool on GitHub does not download it is a dead link the other one you only need really two softwares to do this is there some type of software were you can convert your WAV files to the ps1 audio files for music 2000 and then replace the audio files and then burn it to cd disc or make a bin file I have took pictures of the entire music 2000 ps1 games folder it is just finding were the ps1 audio files are and replacing them with my audio files then I can burn it to a cd disc or make a bin file and Launch a emulator so I really need help with it.

That guide explains what to do.
You extract the files from the disc image, I would use cdmage.
Then follow the "EDITING SAMPLE LIBRARY" section.

Looking at the wadtool feature list page, it can "replace file in wad", so it can do it.
Join the wadtool discord and ask them. https://discord.com/invite/n8DNzxQ
The wadtool binary release is the dead link, search or ask them in their discord for the latest windows executable or on their github issues section.

Then once you have the wad file, if it's smaller in size you can replace (both files) using cdmage and it should just work, probably a good way of testing samples as you go.

When you are ready to build the PSX CD image, search or ask here again, it's still pretty complicated to make a proper booting image, I've tried many ways, but still keep going back to Sony's DOS tools, ie the YarIso batch script that's in this VM: https://archive.org/details/net-yaroze- ... xp-vm-2022

Good luck.

hi thanks for your message gwald i used iso buster to extract the music 2000 ps1 game it has loads of files in the folders the easy bit for me was to extract the ps1 game there is a load of softwares that do that.
but the hard bit i found was the wadtool cos the software is a dead link and i dont know if the person juju2143 who uploaded it is still active i did do a message on his github page i am not on discord site if you are on that site then is there anyway you can send a message to juju2143 cos i am not on the discord site.

i will check out thecdmage software
it is doing the wad tool bit which i cant do cos it is a dead link
and then how do you turn all thoses files back together as a iso file or bin and cue file
i dont know how to do that bit

also the booting image bit what about nero software i have a old version of nero not used it in years and you can make a bootable iso file with that software would that work then cos you just add all game files to the nero software and it is so post to make a bootable iso file but i have never done that so dont know if it would work.

Music 2000 uses WAV or other audio file formats for its samples. Before you begin, make sure your music samples are in the correct format. The game typically uses low-quality audio (8-bit or 16-bit) to keep the file sizes small.

DO NOT CLICK, THIS IS A SCAM BOT.

Also it's information is obviously BS and is spouting non-factual information about the games audio format.

It's pinned on their "?🔬-music™-nerdy-modding" channel.
The latest build was uploaded there in 2022!

Try clicking the link and see if you can create a temp acc:

But if you REALLY! want to do this, sign up to discord and talk with those guys.
You dont need to download the discord software, you can chat via the web browser.

You will probably get stuck using wadtool and they are the only ones that can answer you.

I saw this project: https://github.com/rodentcat/m2k-samples/
Maybe that can show you how to use wadtool.

CDMage lets you replace files with files the same size or smaller and you can test in emulation.

Nero wont create a proper PSX booting image, it has to have a special license at the start of the image.
Some emulators dont check it or skip it but it probably wont work on real hardware.

Yea, without it even my DTL-H1001H won't boot. It just asks to insert a PlayStation disc. But as long as any license file is present, it will (and it changes the text from of America to Inc, or of Europe, just without the SCEx string with different regions). (I guess this isn't true with Japanese DTL systems though, it must be the Japanese license file from what I gather.)

An alternate route, though convoluted would be to use the tools in PsyQ to make a new disc image, but you'd need to put everything back the way it was, and it's a meticulous process, so as mentioned CDMage would be best and easiest. (And if you end up with a smaller file size, you can probably pad it.)
