Infoteam International PSX Console Controller ATA (re v2.1)?

What is a rev 2.1 block? You can see one in this auction on eBay in the pink bag. It has a PSX controller on one end and a long slot (that looks like an IDE connection) on the white block.

Any ideas?

Argh, I forgot what these were! There were a few going on eBay a month or two ago for $15 brand new from the UK.
They have a controller port on one end (male), and a 68-pin PIO port on the other (female).
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

What were they used for? I got a brand new one with the PSX I just bought.

Ah, nice find. It is just an ATA 2x20 header that acts as a breakout.
It's not the 68-pin PIO connector as I assumed (sorry, my mistake) :S

It was probably used for just testing the controller ports at repair centers as 'defor' stated in the first post within your link. They would probably also have a disc that would send out vibration commands and display on screen data.

It is part of the PlayStation history, and would be a collectors item if that's what you were looking for.
Please make a dump of that 'Video Test CD' for me too if you can please.
