Re: CommLinkUSB

I had a raspberry pi approach, but the need of a Logic Level Converter made me search for a cheaper solution. The PAR/XPLORER are 5v signaling, and the Pi's GPIOs are 3.3v
But use the Pi still could be a cool project.

Re: CommLinkUSB

@danhans42
According to the schematic, PD6 is not used, it will be not easy to connect a wire directly to the chip, the better option is to map new ports and rewrite the firmware, I will tell you when it's done.

Re: CommLinkUSB

Fantastic work, I have been wanting a USB solution for years :-) Just have a quick question, Its probably no, but will ask anyway.. I already have a few ATMEGA AT32U4 based boards lying around, they go under the name AT32U4 Pro Micro.. Would it be possible to use one of these in lieu of the Adafrui...

Re: CommLinkUSB

Reckon you could design the PCB into a 2 layer board that is a self contained cartridge? Also, does it work with PSEXE.COM? (I'd imagine it would). Yes it's possible, but the cartridge's connectors are hard to found. About PSEXE.COM, it does not work, but I already write a new software like PSEXE.C...

Re: CommLinkUSB

@sicklebrick Let's start by the speed result ;-) I love inc^lightforce's rectangle demo: http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=272&p=1972&hilit=rectangle+demo#p1972 , so I used it as a bench mark, here the results. Filename : rect.psx Filesize : 192512 --Transfer size : 0x0002...

Re: Need help with psx serial cable

Today my psx do the same thing as CosmoGuy's psx, first it do not communicate, so I check my sony serial cable at the psx's end, I shake the connector a little and it start communicate but it don't reach the 100%, so I hit CTRL+C to stop the prog, and I restart the psx, but this time the psx says se...

Re: Need help with psx serial cable

You can do a quick test, connect TX pin and RX pin together, you can use one of the female / female cable for that, open a terminal program, and initiate a connection, everything that you sent is supposed to be echo in receive window. If you do not have a terminal program you can use "Terminal&...

Re: Need help with psx serial cable

Do you use a sony psx cable cut in half? If it's the case you must know that the sony serial cable was for connect 2 psx together, so the signals wires are crossed as below.. 1 -> 4 2 -> 2 3 -> 6 4 -> 1 5 -> 8 6 -> 3 7 -> 7 (usually not connected) 8 -> 5 The wires color will be different from one si...

Re: Xplorer headache

Hello, The cable is the faulty point, it's a serial cable not a parallel one, in fact the cable has not all the pins wired.

The standard 25-pin RS-232 connector:

Works fine.
Yes, but only the GameShark PRO use Parallel port, the regular GameShark use the CommLink interface from Datel.
