UniROM 8.0.K - GDB Debugging, install/backup to/from memory card, homebrew from memcard, etc
https://github.com/JonathanDotCel/unirom8_bootdisc_and_firmware_for_ps1/raw/master/social_card_PNG.png Been a long time coming, but here's the first tentative release of Unirom 8! It comes as a BootDisc (green) and ROM (blue) combo. Both have the import player, serial tools, hex editor, flappy cred...

Whoa, that was thoroughly awesome
Thanks for sharing!
Considering how well it does platformers, I'm kinda saddened that there weren't a lot like this on the PS1!

Lol, just a turn of phrase; figured it would translate to Aussie English :p
But yeah, if it's no hassle, it'd be pretty awesome to see any others you've found ^^

Re: How to dump your CDROM BIOS (Firmware)
Ah, no, not me. I am an ASM programmer. I am not doing HLL stuff, never, no chance. I am now certain that you're a lovable eccentric. Got me thinking about the differences between the PS1/PS2 though. Every few revisions on the PS1, you'd have to use slightly different disk swap timing... (going som...

ASM Demo: Magical Assmbler Spooky Ectoplasmic Gloop Gasm
50 Ahoyhoy I haven't done much PSX-related recently, and got the craving for a little assembly. I kinda wanted to finish off ROMProd's upload/download feature, but don't have a working parallel port, so I've been doing this for a few days. Bliss =) Not sure I'll get around to finishing it, but it w...

Cheers - I didn't realise he'd released the PC end of things for this - I already have the PSX code intergrated into RomProd, so this should be awesome

Re: MIPS R3000 Instruction Set and Advanced Machine Document
Thanks man, nice list - here are a few I found pretty useful:
http://www.cs.umd.edu/class/sum2003/cmsc311/Notes/ (Scroll to mips section, there's a pretty good introduction)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIPS_architecture (seems kinda obvious, but the assembly section is invaluable)

Lol, might be a good way to get some use out of my pile of gameshark clones - I don't have a serial cable or anything though Guess I could just use an Arduino? I'll think of something amusing to do

Hoot cheers again. At the risk of cross posting - I figured I'd update here. (It feels like the right thing to do). Fixed Booting: http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=393 Not sure what to fiddle with next.... converting hitmod, dual booting custom exe + XFlash (timesaver!), some bas...

Re: PSX CD-Player only Project
Cool, very helpful - thanks :) Only took a bit of patching (register names, explicitly loading the jump table), but it boots perfectly now! I initially thought it was something SPU relted as some demos like Sadtro would still run but lag like the SPU was causing some kinda blocking. I suppose it's p...
