Re: How to compile and run a 'hello world' executable in PSY

Your makefile was wrong! I fixed it anyhow.

Re: Hey, wassup :)

Welcome!

If you would like to program on it, we have a tutorial/guide which can be found here. You can not use an Action Replay/Game Shark (AR/GS) to upload without the special ISA card by Datel called a Comms Link. You need to buy an Xplorer. Do not get the FX edition.

Good luck!

Re: PlayStation 1 BIOS's [DOWNLOAD]

Well, maybe this photo will explain a lot about the PlayStation VCD Player (SCPH-5903). It is a custom attachment plugged into the bus :D I would like to thank Lingjr Wai Hung Barry, for the photo inside of his PS1 VCD console. I see a separate processor for the VCD processing, 2x DRAM which would b...

Re: PlayStation 1 BIOS's [DOWNLOAD]

I reckon it would be in the BIOS or in the Mechanism Controller. Last thing I would expect is a custom GPU or even a CPU bus attachment for processing the VCD. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-ASIA-WHITE-NTSC-J-PLAYSTATION-5903-VCD-VIDEO-CD-100V-120V-/320883553694?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab62...

Re: Wondering about CD drive data

True. As long as the hardware is there, and it can support it, then we can release firmware updates.

Re: Wondering about CD drive data

We can give it a try Cybdyn. It is all part of the prototype testing. Besides, when you rip a PS1 game, you should always do it at 1x or 2x. I am sure people would be patient enough to wait ~25 minutes to copy their originals to the SD card.

Re: Wondering about CD drive data

I was thinking of adding copy protection, so that PSIO would only boot if you had the original disk. However, I got feedback from users stating that it would be useless, and defeat the point of PSIO, which was to replace the CD-ROM drive entirely. And so, I decided to leave it out. Another feature I...

Re: PSone BIOS modding project

The PlayStation 1 BIOS ROM is an 8-bit 20 address IC.

I do not know the voltage because I have not checked it with my multimeter, but my guess is it would be 5 volts.

Re: Overclocking the CPU with Software Control

It is good to not use such a huge and powerful IC for such a small project. Using basic components is the best way :)

Re: Overclocking the CPU with Software Control

Well, I would love to see it. I knew there was an easier way, but I didn't think it would be with only 1 IC. I never thought of using an NPN transistor either.

Re: How to write compile and run without a console game ps1

Topic fixed ;) If you cant even launch psymake, it is because on the Windows 9x series, you usually have an AUTOEXEC.bat file that calls the PSPATHS.bat file within the PSYQ path (EG: C:\PSYQ\PSPATHS.bat) on startup. On Windows 7 for example, you will need to call (start) this separately because it ...

Re: Overclocking the CPU with Software Control

The clock speeds that they mention in the above link, are not correct I believe. Benchmarking was a feature I was going to add into PSIO OS. This way, users could test their hardware and check its performance. Mainly checking the CD-ROM. http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=3680.0 You would us...

Re: Did anyone mod the PSX BIOS?

That sounds to good to be true! If you can edit the boot sequence, colours, sound and even get it all back into assembly, it will open new doors for us ;) I know that the popstation BIOS has the CD-ROM and Memory Card editor removed. I believe that they used this in the PS1 emulator for the PSP. Tom...

I never modified the BIOS. I do have some source code of it, but I never reversed it. I do have reversed CAETLA code however.

Re: Advancing the PSone

It is possible to add more RAM, but there is no point. What game uses more than the default 2 MB? Sure, you could make a custom game that use more than 2 MB, but it would only work on systems with the added RAM. The development kit has 8 MB, so it is possible. However, this was only used for debuggi...
