Linux for PS1? Doesn't sound very usefull for me, unless if you would manage to attach a keyboard and create some better quality image (even for simple text editing normal television screen would kill my eyes).

Sure, there's no need for IDE, because there are plenty of them (the best one is VI of course ), but a good tutorial how to cross compile programs, how to configure it in IDE or how to write a compilation script in bash/sh would be very usefull.

Yes, but there is no as much of fun in it as in creating your own customized portable system based on original parts, even if it's not that perfect, it's 100% handmade

Hello, I'm Pucek, I'm a computer science student in France (but I'm not french).
