Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
And I look forward to hearing your results. Please include whatever model numbers you try it on. Successfully working with my PAL consoles: 1002 (v2.2e), custom 1002 (v4.1e bios swap), 7002 (v4.1e), 7502 (v4.1e). On the other hand those (original discs) still trigger the antimodchip protection but ...

Re: PSX - Sonic1 demo
This looks really good. Is this a completely new development or is it a port of an existing Sonic game engine?

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Nothing specific. If you system has a cd-rom firmware of version C1 (b) or newer you'll get correct audio playback despite using the swap trick which normally is not what happens. If you have version C1 (a) or C0 (a or b) you'll probably have the usual audio playback problems that occur with swap tr...

Re: Tonyhax International: Backup Loader For All Japanese, USA, and PAL PS1 Consoles/Early PS2 Consoles + GameShark Flas
Final Fantasy 9 seems to use the same memory that TonyHax is loaded into. Maybe this is conflicting with the exploit. Or maybe the game is having an interrupt occur while the exploit is in progress and causing problems. I may try to look at it again, but if you can share anymore details on your expl...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
I think I may just replace it with a 128KB image as from what I've heard there is no downside to flashing a smaller ROM image onto a larger EEPROM with NXFlash. And I look forward to hearing your results. Please include whatever model numbers you try it on. wes44, thank you for checking! I was rathe...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it's working on all your consoles. The SCPH-5500 had the cd player swap trick still working? I would have guessed it was removed by that model. I think that is a good idea to add a 128KB version just incase. I went with 256KB because I believe most GameShark cartrid...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Thanks. Let me know when you get to try it. A lot of the time spent on the project was because I didn't have access to real hardware for testing so Alex-Free was handling all of the testing on real hardware. There may be some improvements made later on for the very early Japanese consoles related to...

Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
This is a project I've been working on for a little while and finally is ready for release. Stealth Unlocker is a ROM to put on a Cheat Cartridge like the GameShark which turns it into something like a Stealthy Plug and Play modchip as it will allow you to boot Import and Unlicensed discs without in...

Re: Modchip for JP PS1?
It's in testing right now. The region lock and cd player menu swap trick are working. The current hold up is fixing the ToC for CDDA tracks to play properly. I'm hoping to have that resolved very soon. I did not mention yet that it is an Expansion ROM (ex: GameShark) that does these things. So you w...

Re: Modchip for JP PS1?
.. or change the BIOS chip for a NTSC/U or PAL one, or use an Action Replay type device to "direct boot" the game (they bypass the BIOS shell and hence, the protection). Unfortunately, we haven't found a convenient protection fix for the Japanese shell code yet. I have a project in the wo...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
I think saying the wobble "groove" doesn't exist is just semantics. The "groove" is just one possible name for the section of the track/spiral that "wobbles" or introduces large tracking errors/corrections. The name for it isn't that important. I think it's generally co...

Re: DIYing a plug that fits the PlayStation's parallel port to boot from a ROM
I made some progress on something that I think would go great with this idea. I've been able to make an expansion ROM that unlocks the drive, patches the Shell to boot unlicensed discs, and then runs the Shell giving you a stealthy way to run unlicensed and import discs. The advantage over FreePSXBo...

Making PsyQ Program Compatible with FreePSXBoot
I thought I'd ask if anything could demonstrate how to make a PS-EXE developed with PsyQ (programmed in C) compatible when booted with the FreePSXBoot exploit. I have used the Builder program for FreePSXBoot and while TonyHax which supports being started that way works fine, my own programs don't st...

Maybe some other standardish connector has similar pins you could use. I don't have anything in mind but I'm sure something could work.

Re: How to dump your CDROM BIOS (Firmware)
I can confirm that SC430911PB is vC1 24 Jul 1995. I've been trying to find a unit with the earlier vC1 and I came across this unit and read the part number as it wasn't working. When I saw a table on the 1st page with this part number I did my best to get the system working and when it did I ran my ...

Re: DIYing a plug that fits the PlayStation's parallel port to boot from a ROM
That may be so, but I'm thinking that with proper pins the 3d printed connector actually can work well. The construction of the pins is very important and using the wrong sort of material is going to cause the issues you're having. But if you search for something more suitable you may find an afford...

Weren't you using old capacitor or resistor leads as pins though? Using something more appropriate would solve that issue.

Re: MKPSXISO - A PlayStation ISO Maker to Replace BUILDCD
I figured out what I was doing wrong. The XML I copy pasted together had the files' type as "mixed" instead of "data". After correcting that, no problems.
