Re: DIYing a plug that fits the PlayStation's parallel port to boot from a ROM
If there is a smaller PS-EXE program available than the UniROM Boot CD version I could include that possibly in a future ROM to be loadable via a button combination on power up so that Serial Cable uploads could be done from the same ROM. The UniROM EXE though is quite large if I want to fit in unde...

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)
Hmmm, yeah, that's still happening. I'll try to find out if it's a setmode issue, or cdrom issue, or timing relate One other thing that I tried to email you about. Does No$PSX implement the COP0 data access / data write breakpoint? I tried to use it awhile back and it doesn't seem to work. It's pos...

Re: SCPH-1000 stuck on double speed mode
It could be that the main cpu when issuing CD Commands is stuck waiting for a response that never comes. Getting stuck on that white screen could happen in that case. Maybe the CD-ROM Controller is bad or has a bad connection/cold solder joint?

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)
I'm happy to see an update! I really like the emulator's debug features. Also Parasite Eve 2 is still broken sadly and won't go further than the intro movie. In v2.0 it seemed to set mode A0 (read full sectors) which is unusual and then it just repeatedly tries to read LBA 462 ( 00:08:12 ) forever.

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
The SCEx code is not data on the disc or in sectors. Your BIN+CUE image has nothing to do with it. The SCEx code is generated by the (most likely) extreme tracking errors on the spiral of the data track near the beginning of the disc. The spiral instead of tracking in a smooth line "wobbles&quo...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
I don't know the exact process of how you get discs mastered, but the SCEx isn't data in an ISO image or other type of disc image you'd likely be sending the company to master your disc. So you'd have to talk to whomever makes the actual glass master about modifying it to have the wobble in the corr...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Testing went well with Spyro Year of the Dragon. In the next version of Stealth Unlocker the Japanese vC1+ cd controller systems will be able to run it. There are currently 4 other protected games I have patches for. Just to be clear these patches to play protected games are just for the Japanese/As...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Yes Stealth Unlocker is working just fine with my PAL consoles . Glad to hear that. I am working on seeing if I can do atleast something for Japanese consoles to play some anti-mod games. We will see how that goes. Currently I have solutions for Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon and Dino Crisis (J) that w...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
Thanks for the update. Works just fine with my PAL consoles and the games previously mentionned ! :clap Would you be ok with your rom being added to Unirom's disc ? That would be ok with me. Are the protected games triggering the Software Terminated screen with the latest Stealth Unlocker or TonyHa...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
The new version is available from the first post. The Japanese SCPH-1000, SCPH-3000, SCPH-3500 consoles which may have older CD-ROM controllers now also get the CDDA audio fix. The Anti-Mod patch allows playing protected games but there are a few notes. First this doesn't address LibCrypt protection...

Re: DIYing a plug that fits the PlayStation's parallel port to boot from a ROM
Hey, that's really neat! If I wanted to do something like that (which I might, don't get me wrong), I would skip all of that patching work and I would just get rid of the stock shell altogether (as IMHO the colour paint splash-aesthetic looks like garbage anyway) and add some extra features - I was...

Re: Why Anti-Piracy Checks Don't Work On Stock SCPH-1000/SCPH-3000 Consoles
Let me clarify what I believe is going on with the anti-piracy module in this case. The reason the protection is not tripped on vC0 cd controller consoles when using a swap trick in this case is because ReadTOC results in an error so the security authentication process is not repeated. However the g...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
The next release is in testing now. The CDDA audio fix for older Japanese consoles is added, and so is the anti-modchip patch which I tested on Dino Crisis (J) and Spyro YotD (Usa) and it seems to be working. The anti mod patch is taken from TonyHax. Once it's tested on real hardware without issues ...

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
The next release will have the CDDA audio fix for the SCPH-1000, SCPH-3000, SCPH-3500, and any other consoles with CDROM controllers vC1 (a) [16 May 1995] or older. This means all supported consoles will have correct CDDA playback now. The next release will also have the anti-modchip patch included....

Re: Stealth Unlocker ~ Plug n Play MOD
So what happens when you do a swap trick is the table of contents from the original authentic disc is stored in the memory of the cdrom controller and remains there even after you change the disc. So pretty much all swap tricks from the 90s and 00s would have audio playback problems on games that us...

Re: PSX - Sonic1 demo
I'm glad you liked it, the PSX is a wonderful console for both 3D and 2D, the cpu is good, the GPU is really fast and the audio quality is excellent, too bad it didn't have a RAM expansion, so the 2D ports of Capcom fighting games would be perfect. I definitely agree with that. Looking at the No$PS...

This looks really good. Is this a completely new development or is it a port of an existing Sonic game engine? Thanks! It's a port of my port of the sonic engine for snes, I intend to create my own game based on sonic I've seen that SNES Sonic demo! It was also very impressive. I hope you continue ...

Re: Tonyhax International: Backup Loader For All Japanese, USA, and PAL PS1 Consoles/Early PS2 Consoles + GameShark Flas
I meant that it would require the user who may have older save game exploit files to have to update their files, as well as tools like MCTOOL requiring an update. Plus it would result in a break in compatibility with the original TonyHax exploits and loader. It may not be a big deal to some. It is n...

Re: Tonyhax International: Backup Loader For All Japanese, USA, and PAL PS1 Consoles/Early PS2 Consoles + GameShark Flas
In my opinion I would leave the TonyHaxSPL filename as it is but if the loader really needs it shortened for one of the Tekken games I'd put that in the documentation and have another file the user can use solely for that. I can't think of other downsides right away other than changing the name woul...
