Re: Sony Discman with PS1 laser
I had no idea the chinese drives were that bad other then the press down spindles that didn't spin. What we need is a all metal disc drive for the PSX similar to the Sega Saturn. That's where that $100 discount from Sega Saturn USA launch price ($399) went https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExaAYIKsDB...

Re: Sony Discman with PS1 laser
Just tested the PSOne slim 440BAM laser in the CD player and it does indeed work. Thanks for confirming that is hilarious. There are a finite amount of PSX CDROM drives in the world, even though millions were sold it is my understanding from one of @shadow 's posts that the 'new' chinese drives are...

hmm adding PAL/NTSC selector or the button combo usually on cheat carts (L1+R1+Sel) or remove libcrypt (PAL) & action replay (NTSC) protection. Really, I don't know if you enable maybe it will not be Stealthy Plug and Play modchip as like before. Anyways I really appreciate your hardwork thanks...

Open Source GameShark Engine Written In No $ PSX ASM
@mottzilla wrote this originally for his Stealth Unlocker soft-mod (which is super cool, please check that out ) but in the end he settled on a different method to address anti-piracy games, and this never actually got into stealth unlocker by the release date. I was the beta tester for stealth unlo...

Re: I mode cable/software
So this exact game that dan had didn't have any bypass codes/patch ever made for it. So for Tonyhax International (the next update will now support non-stealth mod-chips, before only stock consoles were supported) has a bypass implemented that allows this game to be played even though it is protecte...

Re: Sony Discman with PS1 laser
Yes the drive does in fact work on a PSX unfortunately its the all plastic drive. That is insane. It does make sense that is all plastic... the AAM model was the all plastic PS1 laser found in all of the early launch consoles. The ACM model was the 'all metal redesign' that was also designated the ...

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)
Interesting. I don't remember where the 72 minute number came from, it's probably one of the many theories about the exact capacity of the original CDs. As for CDRs, the existing sizes listed on german wikipedia are 21, 23, 63, 71 , 74, 80, 90, 99, and 100 minutes, http://web.archive.org/web/2/http...

Re: How Is Spyro YOTD USA Detecting PAL?
This is literally amazing. I just tested every single known protected USA game, and with the exception of Spyro YOTD, Vandal Hearts II and Dino Crisis every single game is patchable by faking the BIOS region byte read using my and MottZilla's new automated method (not yet released). Those exceptions...

Re: Sony Discman with PS1 laser
As i was disassembling the discman I was hoping that the CDROM drive would be more robust but unfortunately it's was just the crappy all plastic disc drive that the ps1 scph-1001 launched with. Just curious, did you actually test this in a PSX? I had a Sony discman from February 95 that was very si...
