Re: UniROM

Hah, thanks guys. I was using DSCaler with a PCI cap card on my old rig, but the new one only has PCIe. Shame - the cap card reacts more like a real analogue CRT and supported a bunch of video modes. I still have a PAL60/NTSC crt, but yeah, space concerns. Is there any real problem with trying a PCI...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

'Allo, sorry about the download issue; it seems my the DNS settings got a little mixed up but the site/files should be in tact. I'll make sure all of the links are up and working as soon as it starts resolving again. (just reset it). Despite the lack of updates I've actually made some progress in th...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

I am starting to think maybe I have too many PlayStations, though... That's not a thing, be more sensibles. Please elaborate a little more on the swap issue. Okie, so like Trimesh explained, you can't just "unlock" the jap consoles via code. You can however (and this works in caetla/explorer and ot...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

I just flashed my gameshark with unirom V6, every game works except for SOTN. It doesn’t load up at all. I hope it becomes playable at some point. Great program in spite of this. Thanks so much for creating it. Working on SOTN, but gotta do a few fixes for the PSIO fastboot first and that's taking ...

Re: PSX->PC via Arduino Uno R3 (

My open-source tools OpenSend and QPSXSerial ... Neat! I missed this being released! FWIW I have unirom uploading arbitrary binary chunks and (optionally) executing them too. When I find the time I'll have to make it compatible with the pc/CLI part of your tools ^^ If I ever find enough time, I int...

Re: PSX->PC via Arduino Uno R3 (

Wow, sorry, took like 2 years to get back to you there. My bad. So there's really no point using SIOCONS nowadays; you're better with PSXSerial.psx (from this forum), it's also built into UniROM (from this forum). The advantages are: -simple protocol -decompilable (it's in C# .NET so... that's your ...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

Aergan: That's something I've been working on actually. In my head I remembered the XPlorer FX carts being able to do that when you flick the switch - e.g. there'd be an onscreen menu and you could switch video modes. Works for some things, but games which change/set video mode every frame or every ...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

'Ello. Been a while. Development's been slow recently (no PC with LPT port, favourite PSX PSU blew, need for SIO flashing, too much work, etc lol). Cheers people who were answering questions :) brunolloko: If it doesn't recognize the cart: A- Make sure it's plugged in properly, sometimes putting it ...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

Hi, sorry for the silence recently - work's been fuckin' nuts :D Teaser though: there's a reasonable chance the next version will have a NTSC->PAL coverter built in (Though not PAL->NTSC, one thing at a time, eh?). I've had it working with SOTN, Kurushi, Gran Turismo, Destruction Derby 3 but it's pr...

Re: Caetla/Ahoy from CD?

From a technical point of view, the cart runs from an external ROM starting at address 1f000000. This chunk of memory doesn't exist when the cart isn't plugged in... so an awful lot of the code would have to be patched by hand to account for it being shifted to run elsewhere (e.g. main memory @ 8000...

Re: SPASM Assembler

Myself and others still use it occasionally. It has a few cranky little bugs but one or two things were written in spasm and it's standalone and tiny in a way that gcc/psyq just isn't :p

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

"Fastboot" is the piece of text that says "Fastboot" :p (Below the R2 option. It has a little more info) You might have some luck finding the original ROM here: http://xianaix.net/museum.htm XFlash (if it can recognise the chip) will say how much space you have, just compare it to the file you downl...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

That's a bit of a bugger, huh :-Solid advice from likeabaus there (maplin still sell verbatim CDRs in the UK btw, failing that Tesco brand work crazy well). -I've tested everything on 1002->5552 models too, so that shouldn't be a problem. There must be something else at play here - maybe something G...

Re: PSX Thingy

I get the software side of things, but I've never really looked into the hardware. Does it need much glue logic or anything? Or does each pin on the p.port just kinda map to the EEPROM? Like the XPlorer FX has 512k, 384k of which is actually wired to the PSX, and PSIO has 32k or something can you ge...

Re: Question regarding "shaders" on Psx ( TR2 )

I think gwald's onto something here. I just tested on actual hardware. Here's the VRAM as it is normally: http://i.imgur.com/s6P0RDs.jpg To the left we see both frames in the VRAM... Essentially one is drawn while the other is being created, then it's 'flipped' and the process continues (Double buff...

Neat , thanks for the update Sicklebrick ! :D Thank you for the XPlorer ROM compilation :D ...emulator?... Weird, I thought no$psx's debugger version had this option but it doesn't seem like it. Maybe undocumented. That would be pretty damn useful. If you have a parallel port though you could use X...

Re: UniROM 0.44 - Bugfixes, woo!

...which install... Okie, so if you have a 256kb cart or higher, then the UniROM+Caetla option might be best as Caetla can handle the raw codes. If your game hunter is 128k though, then it's one or the other. ...which games... Now there's a question. I've honestly hardly tested this or used it to b...

Re: WTB: Playstatipn SCPH-5552 UK

Weird, 5552 is prettymuch the only model I find up here. The ones I have left are either broken or modified (e.g. arduino screwed into the lid or missing laser) but will give you a shout if/when I see another.
