Re: Tomb Raider: Chronicles (Decompile)

Hi,

I'm glad you found my gte code useful, you didn't credit me but I know it so well that I can recognize it anyway :D

Where did you copy it from? It's been taken by a few people who claimed it as their own over the years.

Re: Duplicating the offical 12v DC Power supply?

The external PSU I have is labled "za12001gn" and is rated 100V- 240V so it will work anywhere in the world, but it appears to be quite rare. They are relatively rare, but not extremely rare. I have some spare ones that have a figure 8 connector if anyone wants to buy one. I am not sure I'd go to t...

Re: Is this thing worth buying?

Thanks for the quick reply! Anyway I want to buy a developer board that's a little more serious than my current one. It is based on a PIC 16F877 so i'm very limited :D Unfortunately Raspberry Pi 2 is cheaper, but the CI20 has more stuff built in. So if you were going to buy the add ons for the Pi 2...

Re: PSX with Component cable.

In future will have only HDTV with 8K and more, HDMI 2.0 and superior, DisplayPort 1.X and other interface, the SCART will not have future on other TV. I have Sony 4K 55' display, where the hell I use SCART? This thread is about using component YUV from PS1, not SCART. The point is valid that one d...

Re: PSX with Component cable.

I find it's easier to get an old CRT TV and drive the cathode RGB guns directly from RGB out of the console. That is mental, I like it. It should be possible to modify the PS1 to output YUV, or do it externally. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31989 http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showt...

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

Or did you mean SCREEN xflip, not texture xflip? Yes the whole screen could be flipped horizontally, a lot of arcade hardware allows this as you can mount the monitor in the bottom of the cabinet facing up and then have a mirror reflecting the image. Like sprite flipping you had to change the displ...

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

Didn't knew about that bit. From my own tests (on a PSone), bit13 did disable textures... which might be actually happening due to issuing a chipselect to an absent VRAM chip... and then, it seems to be still supported on PSone's. It's difficult to be confident as you don't say what GPU you tested ...

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

PU-7, PU-8 up to and including -2x: CXD8530[AB]Q Later PU8s, etc: CXD8606[AB}Q There is a CXD8606CQ used on later Namco System 10 boards, I don't know if that turned up in any consoles. Games were still being released in 2003. Confusingly Namco System 12 predated System 10, the first of those board...

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

PU-7 and -1x PU-8s used the CXD8514Q Everything from the -2x PU-8 to the early PSones used CXD8561[ABC]Q The later PSOnes used another part that I can't remember the P/N for that had the SGRAM in the package. I've not seen the CXD8514Q used with 2mb of vram, but anything with a CXD8561[ABC]Q should...

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

On the other hand, if there's really 2MByte on System 11, then it might be inactive, too. Did anybody emulate that System 11, and knows more about its VRAM? Yes, over a decade ago. Early System 11 boards have a very different GPU (CXD8538Q) that has different encodings for commands and textures can...

Re: [DOWNLOAD] PlayStation 1 BIOS Collection

Do you think that the "C" is for Clone??? Well, maybe that's possible, too. Whatever it is: The console's feet & label are uncommon, and if anybody does have one of them then it would be definetly worth to open it up and look inside of it. Assuming it's actually a psone and not a nes designed to lo...

Re: [DOWNLOAD] PlayStation 1 BIOS Collection

It would be a good indicator that the console should contain a PM41(2) board, right? A picture is not much help, "SCPH102C" on the label and the different feet could be an indicator that it's a clone http://www.bordersdown.net/threads/107116-Clones-Fakes-and-Budget-Consoles If the label is the one ...

Re: [DOWNLOAD] PlayStation 1 BIOS Collection

I don't think that anybody has ever dumped the bios from SCPH-102A, -102B, or -102C models (it might turn out that they use the same bios version(s) as SCPH-102 though). AFAIK they were just different SKU for different countries, probably power cable. English https://www.playstation.com/manual/pdf/...

Re: SCPH-5903 PSX VCD Main/Sub-board Images

Actually, I don't know anything about MPEG decompression. I would assume that it's more complicated than Playstation's MDEC format - but I might wrong there. Does anybody have some (compact) info on how to decompress VCDs? IIRC MDEC is effectively MJPEG, which is MPEG only using I-frames. http://en...

Re: [DOWNLOAD] PlayStation 1 BIOS Collection

Yes, it's SCPH-5903. The (re-)naming is really confusing. If you check the above posts... smf originally called it scph5903.bin with CRC32 specified as 446ec5b2. then smf renamed it to ps-22(c) and uploaded it, with same CRC32 as above. and then gradius renamed it to 5903.bin and compared it to ps-...

Re: SCPH-5903 PSX VCD Main/Sub-board Images

Question would be, what values does one get returned for GetID command when inserting VCDs into the disc drive? Can somebody test that? You won't need a SCPH-5903 console for that test, you could use any PSX model you have, and you would only need VCD disc. I don't know if I have any pressed VCD di...
