Hello,
Please cam someone help, i fitted an MM3 chip to my 7002 board but it wont load any games at all, not even originals, as soon as i remove the chip all works. I was sent a second chip which arrived today and that is doing exactly the same.
I reffited the wiring 3 times on the first chip using dupont wires cut short i then tried to fit with kynar as well and still the same. This time i also checked with a meter to make sure of no shorts!
Fitted the new chip and still the same! remove it... works again.
Here are two picures of the installs.

The code which is flashed to the chip might be using different pins compared to the install guide you are using. VCC and GND are obviously the same, but the other pins are most likely swapped. You'll have to contact the seller from where you purchased the chip from for the correct install guide, or to ask for the code. Otherwise it's going to be a bit advanced to figure out which pin goes where and I don't think you'd be prepared to go that route

If it is a standard MM3, your wiring looks correct to me. You checked for shorts. Also did you check continuity from each mod chip pin to each PU-20 pin?
Maybe throw a meter on a wire attached to pin 6 of the mod chip to see if you see voltage fluctuation.
Does the vendor have a PSX with a PU-20 that he verified these with?
These are the pin functions of the MM3:
1. VCC
2. An optional activity LED output.
3. Used to support stealth mode for anti modchip games.
4. Reset button input.
5. GATE/WFCK
6. Data output to send the correct copy protection serial message so the console accepts the disc.
7. CD door input.
8. GND

pin4 seems to be disconnected in the second photo.

i don't know if you sorted this but pin 6 is on the wrong chip, it should be on the smaller chip on the right
