Looks good, I tried it on couple of emulators.
You should consider using palletised images. It will keep the size of your EXE down.
For example size of the 8bit tim sonic image is 64 KB.
Your source has the necessary CLUT handling code, you just need to convert the bitmap to 8bit one.
