Is it safe to fit PAL PlayStation power boards to NTSC-J & NTSC-U.S. PlayStation consoles?
Doing this has been suggested elsewhere on the forum but I need to know if it's really okay. Is it safe to do that?
The SCPH-9000 Service Manual warns against it. Is it okay to do?

It's okay to do it. Just make sure you don't plug 240VAC into a 110VAC power supply/board!

Thanks for letting me know. I did it with a couple of imports and was a little worried that it might be a fire hazard or that it might just destroy the console over time.
But yes, I've actually done that a couple of times (fried two boards). I've got quite a few of the things here, and have been swapping boards to test them etc.

it wouldn't be a fire hazard, the mainboards are virtually identical and the power supply boards just does AC to DC rectifying and step down transforming to the required 12V, so long the power supply board matches the input voltage its' fine.
