[FAIL] Sound problem with my dev. SCPH-7501

I recently put together my dev. SCPH-7501 console to do some PlayStation prototyping again... But, I noticed that the sound is very weak and when the sound being played gets loud enough (such as the 'peak' when the SCE text shows up at start-up), it sounds completely garbled. I think it had something to do with a bad cap somewhere on the audio circuitry but I'm going to need some advice for fixing this issue... And no, I don't want to replace my console/board since I already got Direct AV and Serial I/O modded onto it.

Any useful help will be greatly appreciated!

Check the soldering on the direct AV mod.

Nope, the soldering is still ok and I'm currently using a standard multi-av cable... The sound problem still persists.

Well, I gave up after realizing that replacing the SPU didn't fix the problem. Instead, it only made the sound worse (constant buzzing). Besides, I have a bunch of extra fat PlayStations lying around in my scrap heap (SCPH-7000s) which I could migrate the parts from my now dead dev. console into it and replacing the ROM BIOS with the one from an SCPH-7501 so it'll boot discs of any region.
