Electrical Question

I'm going to install wireless internal wireless controller receivers and memory cards in my PlayStation. This question may be stupid, but I'd figure I'd run it by the people that more about the PlayStation and electricity than me. I removed the board from the controller/memory port and want to know if I can use the metal plate above the motherboard as the case ground for the controller/memory board.

What metal case are you talking about exactly, and what is your PSX model number?

There are spots on the back of the controller port board that were soldered to the sheet metal around the controller port assembly. I assumed that was for a ground. I want to know if I can use the metal plate above the mother board and under the laser assembly as the ground that I removed from the controller assembly.
I have a 5501.

Mate, your wording is confusing. Is it this one,
this one,
or this one (outlined in red)?

That is correct.
Sorry for the confusion.

I'm sorry, what one is correct exactly?

I removed the one in red and the one above it. I want to solder the points where those two used to be soldered onto the controller/memory card board to the metal plate your holding in the first picture.

Yes you can solder to those points.
