Help with PlayStation needed!
Hello! I have and PlayStation one SCPH-1002 and can't get it to work on my CRT television. The picture changes contrast, flickers and moves to the left after a few minutes. I have read that older ps1's require some sort of modchip to play on older televisions? Does anyone have any information on this? This has been annoying me for a while and would appreciate some help.

Sounds like there might be something wrong with either your TV, your AV cable or the video encoding circuitry of your console. Have you tried connecting your console to another TV (can be an HDTV with legacy ports) and does it display properly there? Also, does your CRT TV display video from other devices (a different console, DVD player, Camcorder) properly?
Please don't forget to include my name if you share my work around. Credit where it is due.

Yeah I've tried 2 different play stations ones and both do the same. They both work on other televisions. I've tested a NES and a SEGA on the CRT television and there both fine. Which is why I read on Wikipedia that old models of ps1 didn't work on some old televisions and people had to send there's back to Sony who fitted a modchip to solve the problem. I believe my television is a bang and olufsen mx7000 but like I said it works with the SEGA and NES
