10 Wire Modchip please, please PLEASE help ;)

Post by Schemer71 » September 9th, 2012, 8:32 pm

Hi all...

I've quite a strange problem tbh, But apart from that ;)

I've a mod chip without wires soldered to it, however it came from a really old SCPH1002 PAL console.
Now I've looked into a lot of Google led sites into modcips and don't really have an issue soldering the chip to a PSX. However most ModChip diagrams are based on 4-6 Connections and i know this one had 9 or 10 solder points.

The modchip played Backups from different regions although NTSC stuff was usually in Black and White 60Hz. It allowed originals to be played as well.

From my understanding (could be wrong so please forgive me) Its a REALLY old modchip with oldcrow source in it.
The microcontroller is an 8-bit type PIC16c54. Ill give a 'rough' ascii diagram to explain lol

(Yes there are 9 pins on each side?)

Now, i know it worked some years ago and can't see why it wouldnt now but there are no wires attached?!
There were definitly 9 or 10 wires attached to the SCPH-1002 but that went years ago!
If someone would be kind enough to explain how to wire this onto the PSX i'd be eternally grateful! My NTSC games are really hard to play via HOTSWAP?!?! and i don't wanna destroy another laser!
The playstation i was gonna use is a SCPH-7502 if it'll allow... otherwise i could swap the lasers into a SCPH-1002... What are peoples opinions on this?

Thanks in advance guys and believe me when i say i searched!
Besides you lot know far more about this than i do for sure!

Wow. You have one of the really older modchips, or the guy who flashed it did not know what he was doing.

It would be to much effort to know what pins to use, nor would I even know what code it has!
The only thing I can honestly recommend, is to just buy one of the Modchips we sell. Less headache, and it will simply WORK.
The modchips we sell will let you boot anything. Just get the diagram for the 750x series PSX and solder it in (once you buy it that is). You will receive it in less than 3 days if you buy it today.
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

Might be being a bit thick here lol but are you selling from a site as such?
Also... read a little more into it... seems that the extra wires (10 as apposed to 6) were used for clock timing on older machines like the 1002?
Thanks shadow anyhow!
btw, whats the cost ;)

5 -- 14
6 -- 15
7 --16
8 -- 17

Thanks for that ;)
Seems like something I'd go for?

How long does it usually take from AUS to UK postage wise cos i'd prolly pay more for a quicker transit?

That modchip is from the original dealers of the PSX Modchip. PIC16C54 was used before Old Crow reversed and ported the code onto the then newly released PIC12C508.
