It says it all. I want to know if there is a version of NO$PSX that could work on Win98SE with 800MHz Celeron and 180MB of RAM.

Or any psx emuator with TTY output on this kind of platform.
Thanks.

Last i tried NO$PSX and Win98SE, it worked on my IBM ThinkPad T42 laptop (Intel Pentium M Dothan / 1GB RAM).
Not sure what it could give with your specs, give a try and let us know ? :)

Ok, I changed config because the BIOS just freezed, and my win98se was kinda corrupted.
So, Fresh install of Win98SE, specs :

AMD 1.15GHz (as I searched)
512MB of RAM
64MB VRAM video card

When I launch NO$PSX it shows FATAL - Unexpected error

Any help ?

What's the point in trying to run an emulator on a Win98 machine?
If you dropped the real hardware idea you're better off running it on a modern computer while setting up PsyQ on a WinXP virtual machine (or using both PsyQ and the emulator on the same virtual machine).

NO$PSX works under Windows 98 SE for me fine. It's a bit slow, but that's on a Pentium 3 at 400 MHz. It's fine for doing tests though with homebrew stuff.

It might not be compatible with the AMD instruction set since it was purely written in Assembly code by NO$CASH and he might be taking advantage of certain Intel based opcodes.

Solved by using real hardware lol

Yes, no$psx does work on win98, no$psx was and is solely developed on win98.

Normally it should work out of the box, even without basic audio/video drivers, and certainly without needing any additional directx or opengl drivers.

The non-working 800MHz and 1.15GHz PC, are that two completely different PCs? Or are there some common components, like same video card, or same harddisk with same OS installation?

For troubleshooting, you could try different older/newer no$psx versions, or debug/gaming version, or some other programs like no$nes and no$gba... and let me know if you can track down what works or doesn't work on your PC.

Starting no$psx.exe should usually bring up the debugger user interface, and you could then select a cdrom image & start the actual emulation. Does the "Fatal - Unexpected error" happens before even seeing the debug window?

ePSXe ran fine on a w98Se machine. My first pc was a Celeron 366 , 20gb HDD and not even 512MBs of ram. Try that one...I had some trouble with NO$PSX, which was really odd. PS1 titles, weren't all that demanding anyway.

NO$PSX runs on my Windows 98 SE machine. It's not able to run at full speed, but it does indeed run. If I upgraded my machine from a Pentium 3 at 400 MHz to something faster (perhaps 800 MHz) it should then be able to run at full speed. Though, I'd have to do research on my mainboard since the bottleneck could actually be the bus speed.

I don't believe NO$PSX takes advantage of GPU acceleration so there would be no point upgrading that.
