Can the Gameshark Pro v3.0 be flashed with UniROM? If so, does it also work with the UniROM+Caetla ROM?

Caetla does not work for cheat codes, or save your codes
Otherwise it works well for unirom bios boot

I have a Xplorer FX on the way. I'm not sure whether it has 2x 256k flash or 1x 512k. If it's 1x 512k flash, is it possible to flash the GS Pro 3.0 or 3.2 firmware on this?

Hi there. I'm looking to flash one of my spare gameshark carts with UniROM .6. I already have an AHOY! 0.34 cart and a stealth IV modded 7501. Would this have any added benefit for me? I'm not able to be at home currently but I'm curious about this. Thanks!

Is there a game compatibility list anywhere you know of? so far I have burned over 20 different games and they either don't boot, or sound is missing in parts of a game and will freeze up. i have also gone through 70+ disc burning games at different speeds, from x1 -MAX and still having the same problems.

So, I purchased a used GameShark that the listing stated it was a v2.0 to flash with ubirom for playing imports and backups. I confirmed that it would boot in the normal GameShark ROM. I did a disc swap and attempted to flash the latest unirom software. With the switch in the up position it detects as a sst29ee020 eeprom with 512k and with it down it detects as a 256k if memory serves me correctly. With the switch up, it appears to not work with any ROM and says there was an error. With the switch down, it says successful but I believe only with unirom standalone if I remember correctly.

I am not even sure if just the standalone will let me not backups and imports. Regardless it only boots to a black screen and nothing more now. What is the deal? Lol

Finally got it. Saw a YouTube e comment that said to first flash the unirom and plug-in combo and then flash the standalone. Did just that and it works perfect. Only question is, what do the other ROMs do? I need nothing more than the ability to boot backups and imports. Thanks!

So apparently that sickleburn website that hosted the UniROM V6 is either hacked or just other wise completly gone.
Could there be potentially some alternative links that could have the UniROM or should we just wait for more updated V7 or something?

If I remember correctly, Sicklebricks website was hosted from his house on a Raspberry Pi. He might have just pulled the plug on it. He hasn't also been active in the community for a very long time now.
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

I'll try to contact Sicklebrick. In the meantime, I put versions 1 though 6 on PSXDEV.NET.

'Allo, sorry about the download issue; it seems my the DNS settings got a little mixed up but the site/files should be in tact. I'll make sure all of the links are up and working as soon as it starts resolving again. (just reset it).

Despite the lack of updates I've actually made some progress in the background including rom flashing via serial.
(Though I've just noticed that Shadow has gotten ahold of the xflash source - so that's a game changer :D )

I've got a bunch of in-game hooking working for ntsc-pal conversion (other way not possible without removing lines) on some games, but it's pretty unstable. We'll see if that makes it into the next release!

Given the large gap between updates I've also tidied up the source and documented it a bit in case I ever release it (but that'd probs be a bigger nightmare than maintaining the rom :D lol) but I'm looking forward to messing with the XFlash source in a few months.

Question:
Anyone know of a good USB tv solution that can do a decent job of PAL/NTSC switching btw?
(without all the annoying comb artifacting when mixing up 240p/480i)

Cheers!

Regarding Composite / S-Video capture stuff, I had some good results with those old PCI TV cards and DScaler for the software.
The cards can be found on Ebay.
Getting DScaler to run is probably quite tricky these days though :p

I tweaked the the first post to fix the layout/formatting and also added the PSXDEV.NET download URL.

Like 'rama3' said, capture cards can be found on eBay, but they can give you some issues because they are extremely cheap in quality and functionality. Honestly, I'd just find a CRT Sickle (don't get something too old though because NTSC won't work for you then) and use that because if you're going to be making software like this you should have a decent screen/video output to work with :)

If room is an issue with the CRT or it's too hard to find, another idea is maybe you could setup a PayPal donations link to buy an OSSC or FrameMeister to use on an old LCD TV at decent quality for development ;)
