If you just want to use your PS1/2 controler on PC via USB , why not just using this ? :?

I believe those kinds of adapters use the same schematic as those do-it-yourself parallel port based controller adapters. You need to install a special driver called DirectPadPro to get it to work but I have a feeling they only work on Windows XP and older. I sort of recall that the adapter will not work if your PC is too fast I think.

EDIT: Looks like Psxpad and NTpad are the drivers you'll need to get them to work on XP. DirectPadPro is for Win9x.

Sadly, I don't think its possible to get those adapters working on something as modern as Windows 7 I don't think. You might have a chance at getting it to work on Linux though but I don't know if the driver modules for parallel port based controller adapters still exist in the latest distros.

I recommend just getting one of those USB based controller adapters that behave as standard USB controllers. And no, don't use a USB to parallel port cable.
