PlayStation 1 / PSX Modem

Post by Shadow » September 26th, 2012, 11:24 pm

Sony was planning to release a modem for the PSX's serial port. It was never released...
A third party company instead was going to release their own version called the "SharkWire".
It was planned to come out for the PSX, but because N64 sales were so low on it, it was scratched.

"SharkWire Online will be available in all major electronic and toy retailers nationwide
beginning in September 1999. The SharkWire Online add-on kit will carry an MSRP of
$79.95 with a base service subscription of a highly affordable $9.95 per month."

Very nice, but today it should be a network card with support to TCP/IP.
