Difference between SCPH-102A and SCPH-102C?

Post by Steveproxy » August 26th, 2018, 12:56 am

Hi, what is the difference between PSone SCPH-102A and SCPH-102C ?
Do they have different diagram to mod the ONEchip (pic 12c508) on own motherboard ?
I have seen that FatCat proposes two different diagrams (with 8 wires), I think the first diagram is for SCPH-102A

In these the pin 8 is linked on different points

I think it just comes down to the chip itself and the code (binary) that is programmed, because each GPIO pin on a PIC MCU can be changed around to be whatever, so they probably had many different revisions for the binary that was flashed.

As for revision A versus C, I can't tell you. It might just be a different BIOS revision or some minor tweak on the PCB.
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

Ok so the difference is just about the chips on the motherboard (hardware)
Does scph-102c has to be modded with a different diagram than scph-102a's?

I don't think so.
