PSX game port

Post by lordrafa » July 21st, 2018, 7:33 am

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to understand how the PSX game port works and more or less I have reached a point that I have an idea. However in every place that I have read, I have seen that the pin 8 is not connected which actually from the psx perspective this is not true. That pint is connected to the CPU DSR0. I would like to know what is this pin used for.

On the other hand even if I know that the DTROx pin are some sort of CE I would like to know what this abbreviation stands for.

Also it would be great if anyone has a scheme and/or info about other psx peripherals i.e multitap, gcon, etc

Many thanks in advance for the help

Ok my mistake the pin 8 on the controller is connected to the hardware interruption 10. DSR0 is the ACK line so a complete port mapping would look like:

1 -> RXD/RXD.0
2 -> TXD/TXD.0
3 -> 7.2V
4 -> GND
5 -> 3.3V
6 -> ATT/CE/DTR0x (Left Port -> x = A or Right Port -> x = B)
7 -> CLK/SCK0
8 -> IRQ10/INTIN10 (Not present on Memory Card)
9 -> ACK/DSR0

DTR -> Data Terminal Ready
DSR -> Data Set Ready
