Pictures of pcb front, back and romdump? or some secret research project?

Here you go. It actually contains an on-board chip die in an epoxy package. They must have been selling quite a few in order for them to proceed with making that decision, though I have a feeling it's nothing more than a ROM under there and they used a simple ROM design that the silicon production company they selected had cheap and available on hand (also, I love how when you take landscape photos on an iPhone and it saves one in portrait mode. Ugh).

Here's a clearer shot of the primary die. That resistor network seems to be a very crude voltage divider. Takes the PSX's 7V rail down to 5V. I'm just speculating here though. I'd need to actually trace the schematic out to be certain.

Thanks :D Cute tiny board.
Looks like eeprom indeed (the chinese fabs probably had loads of them, either nightshift leftover or clones (they work, good enough). CMOS Electrically-Erasable. Programmable Logic Device, well, code probably locked away. We probably know what it does or did you get it to get its code?

That resistor/transistor part indeed looks like voltage, the pld could monitor the bus without much help anyway.

Nah, I still got to dump it. I'll try to do that sometime, but it isn't going to be anything special. The menu on it looks like your typical fake Action Replay from that time period.

How did it turn out, was it EEPROM? I would be interested in getting one of these myself for running Unirom off.

Not sure. I've been too busy to mess with this stuff at the moment. It'll be a few months before I get around to it.
