Modchip for PS2 SlimLine SCPH-90004/90001CB (PAL/NTSC)

Post by NetYaroze » April 29th, 2015, 9:00 am

Sorry for the NOT related PSX but PS2 general request of help, but I can not find a valid solution to mod my PS2 (already made a similar request on another forum) but reached only chaos, and not a solution.
What need to do with the PS2?:

(1) Play PSX/PS1 CD-R games (Backup) and PS2 CD-R/DVD-R games (Backup).
(2) Clear/Original Startup when the game start (No chip brand logo, version or something) Example:

Now, can someone suggest me which mod-chip are the best solution for this?
I know to Matrix Infinity 1.99 and older have option like "BOOT LOGO: ON/OFF" but this disable at 100% any logo or modchip version first to game start? (like the example) or can I use MODBO 750, 760, 4.0, 5.0 (does not have that type of problem?) are there other supported chip? (another brand).

Around the web (made-in-china.com) have found some Matrix Infinity 2.0 to work fine with SCPH-9XXXX series, but I can not find any other information around.
If know these chip, can someone tell me the differences between?

Thank you in advance! :?

Maybe this are the best solution (Mars Pro GM-816HD) confirmed to work on SCPH-9000X models: http://www.game-chip.com/GM-816HD-1.htm - just not sure about clear screen and the boot of the games.

Yes, I would not press RESET button on console every time to play a game, PSX or PS2 does not change anything.

My only advice would be to either find the source code to the modchip and recompile it yourself onto a new chip, or, if the modchip uses an EEPROM to hold the firmware, dump it, disassemble it, find the logic where it's altering the boot logo and disable it. Now disassembling it wont be hard, but finding the offset will be, so try to get in touch with the modchip creators and ask where the offset for the boot logo switch is.

Sometimes the hardest way is the best and only way ;)
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

When I find some details about Mars Pro GM-816HD I will go for this one, just need to look around for this chip users and ask how it boot games.
