Returning SCPH-1000 S-video socket to 100x-500x models

Post by mejiromonk » May 11th, 2022, 9:19 am

I have a Hong Kong SCPH-5003 that appears to need a cap replaced. I am in the United States, and am considering getting the whole board serviced for a reasonable rate.

While it is serviced, for certain reasons, I want an S-VIDEO socket on the rear panel (like the original Japanese SCPH-1000); I am aware of S-VIDEO options via the multi-out.

I read a bit about returning S-VIDEO to the non-SCPH-1000 (pre 5500) models, and that it is fairly easy as even the solder points are present on the mainboard PCB. (I recall something about a few resistors missing, but again, their solder points are present.)

That was about two years ago. I went looking again today, and cannot find anything. Am I missing something? If there is a thread on S-VIDEO addition, where can I find it? If there is not, anyone want to talk about?

As far as the thin bitter rear panel, I have access to getting a replacement (with the S-VIDEO hole) 3D printed.
