Hello guys. First of all, I'd like to congratulate you all for this website.

I've just adquired a SPHC 5552 with a little sound issue. The first time, I thougth the disc was the problem (No modchip, no backups, 100% original). So I tried with several games with no difference. The sound is correctly played since the boot. In game, SFXs are pretty good, but the music in game (like Tekken 3) is not working, only the moanings, beats, kicks, ect.
In other games, the issue is the same, no sound in the intros, no music in game. Only at main menu.

I've read some topics here. But I don't clear myself up with ICs.

Any suggestions? I' shall be very grateful. Thanks :praise

Hello!
Do you have a video about this issue?

No music you say?
TEKKEN 2 / TEKKEN 3 use .XA format. Maybe the CXD1815 is K.O? (CD-XA encoder)

Do yourself this test:
1) Play music from CD player and check if is working (CD-DA test).
2) Play game with .XA format based (Tekken 3, Ace Combat 3 or Tenchu) and check again.

Send a video -- maybe I can help you better :)

Ok
I've just captured a video : https://youtu.be/c0eMLA4QvEA

With Tom Raider, I & II, Fifa 98, Driver, Medievil....

Every game presents the same issue.

Thaks a lot.

Edited: CD test works fine.

Okay, I've watched the video.
The SPU sounds okay and... probably the issued is CD-XA encoder (I think is partially damaged).
Because the data are readed correctly, but no the XA/STR file type.

No audio means -- no decoding.

So, make a try -- Replace the CXD1815Q with a working one and see If there are some changes!

EDIT: Wait... did you play TR1 & 2? The background music works? And FMV are muted?

Either TR1 nor TR2 have FMV sound. The background music is not working. I remmeber only the music when T-Rex appears. But I'm not sure yet.
Otherwise, I've just purchased a SCPH 5552 in scrapping market.
I will keep you informed.
Thanks a lot.
