mkpsxiso help

Post by gremkin » March 21st, 2020, 10:51 am

I'm wanting to say I am being really dumb here, but I do need help.
I've downloaded mkpsxiso-1.23, unxip the folder and have mkpsxiso and mkisoxml, if I try to open either one just a black screen flashes up and nothing else happens.

So what I'm really asking is how do I make it work?

I really need an idiots guide!

I am at a complete loss any help is very much appreciated. :crying

Don't double-click the executable. You need to execute it from within a command prompt with arguments.
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

PlayStation Development PC: Windows 98 SE, Pentium 3 at 400MHz, 128MB SDRAM, DTL-H2000, DTL-H2010, DTL-H201A, DTL-S2020 (with 4GB SCSI-2 HDD), 21" Sony G420, CD-R burner, 3.25" and 5.25" Floppy Diskette Drives, ZIP 100 Diskette Drive and an IBM Model M keyboard.

Was getting thrown by the read me talking about compiling it, which I guessed it was already compiled

So I Understand Command Prompt, but the arguemnts you have me at a loss.

Any chance of an example, or an idiots guide?

Make your *.XML file and then use these arguments. Obviously, rename 'example' to whatever your sheet is called.

Code: Select all

mkpsxiso.exe -y example.xml
Development Console: SCPH-5502 with 8MB RAM, MM3 Modchip, PAL 60 Colour Modification (for NTSC), PSIO Switch Board, DB-9 breakout headers for both RGB and Serial output and an Xplorer with CAETLA 0.34.

All these tools..
Isn't it enough to simply create a new .iso in imgburn, with XA Mode2 / 2352 selected, then patch the .iso with a psx license tool?
Or is that missing something?

It seems the OP wants to make an image. If you want to add XA and/or CDDA this is where things become more difficult and where BUILDCD.EXE or MKPSXISO.EXE are extremely useful :)

I myself never had luck with CDDA and BUILDCD.EXE so I always use LameGuy64's program to do that :praise

CDMAGE normally does what I need to get the job done. Hit a more complex realm and found a tool I needed help with.
But thabks for the suggestion
