Hi there!
I have a problem with my 1002 PSU (received yesterday...after try to repairing my 1000  ) and i resolder all the pads with a nice and fresh soldering but the fuse...still blow!
It's a EAMX5 aka NPX-029E1-1A (so a Matsushita PSU) and aestheticallyit's in good condition ....
Here some pic :

Probably the problem is in the live section, but i'm not sure  !
Thanks in advance !

Did the fuse blow when the secondary side was turned off (not powering the PSX)?

Hi shadow :) !
Well, the fuse blow when i just plugged the AC cable. the PSU isn't plug with the motherboard yet :/...
I've only two 250v 1.6AH fuse.... :(
So, i've only two chances XD

The transformer could be bad or the choke could be bad. It could also be the primary filtration capacitors. You'll have to get a multi-meter and start testing components because that's the only way you'll figure out where the short is occurring.

Yeaaah Shadow, i did it!!!
I just check the FS2KM (high speed MITSUBISHI MOSFET) beacause was in short and change the main capacitor for safety (400V 47uf). It works perfectly :)!
But on the pinout i have 7,0vdc and not 7,5vdc...the console working fine but i'm don't know if it's normal XD!

Ah, it would have been the FET. Make sure you put the heatsink back on it!

There is a pot you can adjust on the secondary side to calibrate the voltage.
I think the older 1000 series PSU's outputted a lower 7V rail anyway.

Aye :)
Heatsink + a little of thermal paste, but just a little :)!
Ah okay, now i know what is that pot....i leave for that voltage.
For curiosity, what happen if i reduce too much the voltage of PSU in DC?
Thanks !

The PSX regulators will fail to switch states and it simply won't power on.

Interesting, shadow! :)
It's a shame that the other power supplies doesn't have this pot :(
