Trying to run a headerless PSYQ .exe from ROM in PSYQ

e.g. ROM @$1f800000 -> $1F020690 EXE @$1f020690 -> $something The .exe works fine normally (as in, with a header in the $8000 range) and is identical whether built with /P (binary output) or if you strip the $800 header out. Startup on the left (essentially replicating GCC's crt0) Linker on the righ...

Re: Newer X-Flash Builds

Oh man, this is so cool! I've started doing a similar thing with UniROM (C rewrite, with some chunks from XFlash, dropping parallel support), but pacing myself... just taking it slowly. Got an absolute pile of carts sat in a box, so we should definitely compare notes at some point. Anyway this is gr...

Re: n00bDEMO - Demo made using my own SDK

Wow, that's a stunning demo, even completely ignoring the homebrew SDK!

Nice variety of effects btw!
Has there been much in the way of cel shading on the psx btw?
Cool to see it running with normal smoothing, etc.

Re: Cpe2x for Win7

Edit: Thanks for CPE2X; it's great, it fixes everything. Just to be clear, I'm leaving this purely out of curiosity. I'm not advocating using dosbox over cpe2x, it's not a good idea if you can help it. Found a workaround for the time being using doxbox on the command line: Asuming your psyq is at c...

Re: Xlink 95 (v1.1) patched (Update: Region Free)

Hah yeah, pain in the ass that it's missing, but we must be the last percent of a percent of people who care.

I don't really have a machine capable of testing the PIO stuff so I've slowly been converting things to C/C# for use with serial comms (Including UniRom).

Re: Abe's Exoddus (decompile)

Oh, nice job!

I unpacked the PC .exe a while back to have a poke around but lost all of it - great to see work still being done :D

Haven't had a proper look around the repo, but did you find all the debug menus?

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

Hi, i just created a profile to say this, beware of the PS Hacker Cartridge (The one that only accepts unirom standalone version, i am using V6 and tested previous versions). I just wasted over 10 good CDR's thinking they were bad burns or rips, and turns out they were not... I am not supporting pi...

Re: Force NTSC output mod?

Yeah, there are modchips that handle that automagically. (Well it's more like a tiny board with a crystal on it for timing). I have the opposite which splits out a PAL60 signal when it detects NTSC - pretty useful. Failing that I guess the opposite of the NPAL convertors might be useful with them b...

Re: UniROM

boot cd! That is fucking fantastic! Been working on this from scratch (hooking vblank, and using a secondary hook to reissue the first hook when some games overwrite it), and it's fairly easy to make something that works nicely for one group of games, but then things will start to break in another ...

Re: UniROM

@dannyboyswe Hmm, I can't remember how the swap trick works with XFX stock, but yeah, essentially jam the sensor down, start with a black disk, enter the file explorer, back out, put in the CDR, start the game. That should do it. Might have to put the switch to the off position right before hitting ...

Re: UniROM

Hah, thanks guys. I was using DSCaler with a PCI cap card on my old rig, but the new one only has PCIe. Shame - the cap card reacts more like a real analogue CRT and supported a bunch of video modes. I still have a PAL60/NTSC crt, but yeah, space concerns. Is there any real problem with trying a PCI...

'Allo, sorry about the download issue; it seems my the DNS settings got a little mixed up but the site/files should be in tact. Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

I am starting to think maybe I have too many PlayStations, though... That's not a thing, be more sensibles. Please elaborate a little more on the swap issue. Okie, so like Trimesh explained, you can't just "unlock" the jap consoles via code. You can however (and this works in caetla/explo...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

I just flashed my gameshark with unirom V6, every game works except for SOTN. It doesn’t load up at all. I hope it becomes playable at some point. Great program in spite of this. Thanks so much for creating it. Working on SOTN, but gotta do a few fixes for the PSIO fastboot first and that's takin...

My open-source tools OpenSend and QPSXSerial ... Neat! I missed this being released! FWIW I have unirom uploading arbitrary binary chunks and (optionally) executing them too. When I find the time I'll have to make it compatible with the pc/CLI part of your tools ^^ If I ever find enough time, I int...

Re: PSX->PC via Arduino Uno R3 (

Wow, sorry, took like 2 years to get back to you there. My bad. So there's really no point using SIOCONS nowadays; you're better with PSXSerial.psx (from this forum), it's also built into UniROM (from this forum). The advantages are: -simple protocol -decompilable (it's in C# .NET so... that's your ...
