Re: SCPH-100 series Service Manual request
Good idea to use multiple zip's to get around the 2MB attachment limit. Here's the edited PU-18 service manual (this are three separate zip, you'll need to unzip each file separately). Sony Playstation SCPH-5500,5501,5502,5503 Service Manual (PU-18) - low resolution (part 1).zip Sony Playstation SCP...

Re: SCPH-100 series Service Manual request
You don't happen to have a nicer PU-18 scan by chance? Maybe even a PU-7 / PU-8 *anything*? That'd be great! :) Would be great, I hope that scans show up someday! For PU-18 (aka SCPH-5500/5501/5502/5503), I've spent some days on 'remastering' the existing scan (the one with the messy top-down image...

Re: No red beam on laser - motherboard issue
There's no red beam. It's infra-red, I doubt that any humans could see the beam, no matter if it's working or not. Worst thing I could think of is that the beam might burn your eyes when gazing at it. EDIT: Or well, yes, there's some faintly visible red light when gazing at it from some viewing angl...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.
I've recently tested the Secret Unlock commands on a console with japanese/asian cdrom firmware. Of course, the commands won't work, and don't unlock anything on such consoles, and I thought that the console would just ignore those commands. But actually it turned out to be worse than just ignoring ...

Re: Question about rare Dual Analog-controller
There should be some way to get the buttons back working. I don't know which is the best (and longest lasting) method, but some ideas would be cleaning the contacts with contact spray or some other liquids, or 'repainting' the contacts with conductive silver, or search for 'remote control buttons' f...

Re: PlayStation PAL Series Colour/Color Modification (PAL60)
The clock shape (sine/square/other) isn't the issue. The first problem is how to synchronize the color clock to the GPU clock (that will give you a perfectly stable picture with "perfectly stable" color artifacts). And the second problem is how to de-synchronize it again (by adding some sm...

Re: Question about rare Dual Analog-controller
No, I didn't notice any lag. Or do you mean that ugly 500 cycle delay being needed in the serial transfer? You'll never notice that with the offical kernel - since it's always using that even bigger delay with more than 2000 cycles - no matter what kind of controller you have connected. It's only an...

Re: NOCASH PSX-BIOS SWAP
A19 would be for 1Mbyte chips (the SCPH-5903 actually has that much memory, probably because two teams worked on developing that console, and each wanted to have their "own" 512Kbytes of memory (technically there has been no good reason for using that much memory)). For a 512Kbyte chip, st...

Re: PlayStation PAL Series Colour/Color Modification (PAL60)
That 8pin chip you have there is a PIC microcontroller that you are using to "amplify" the 2pin oscillator? Uncommon solultion, but if you have the PIC in there anyways & think that it should work then it's okay. Otherwise 4pin oscillator would be easier. Also, since you said that the ...

Re: Read and write PS2 memory card with Arduino
I recommend using resistor voltage divider instead of zener diodes as you get a finer control of the voltage. That method is fine if you need a reference voltage, but it isn't too suitable for supply voltages. The memory card will also act like another resistor wired to ground, so the voltage will ...

Re: Question about rare Dual Analog-controller
Yes, more pictures or part numbers would be great! Yup, I've meanwhile figured out that there are a bunch of revisions for various analog/digital pads, this page has some (lowres) PCB photos: http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_wiring.html#PCB_DIAGRAMS for different models (if your browser doesn't ...

That http://i68.tinypic.com/23stbpc.jpg photo is showing... a PROM ??? That chip isn't even UV-eraseable, so you have only one single attempt to get the programming logic right, not to mention the programming voltages. Well, good luck with it - but I have some doubts, to say the least. Using a simil...

Okay, here are the component list and pinouts for the SCPH-1150, and also for SCPH-1200 and SCPH-110. Oh, and comparing it with your photos, here also some questions/comments... Going by the photos, your SCPH-1180 has the same mainboard/daughterboard than my SCPH-1150 (DD1P09A=mainboard, and DD1Q14A...

He is saying that the flashing tool only works with some chips. In your case, the one with the SST chip. Not really, I was trying to say that there are three possible problems (the FLASH memory size, the FLASH programming flowchart, or the FLASH voltages). But yeah, that means that "it won't w...

There's a datasheet for the CAT28F010N-15 flash chip, http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/308/on%20semiconductor_cat28f010-d-326877.pdf Maker code (addr 0) is 31h for Catalyst Device id (addr 1) is B4h for that chip There're also flowcharts for write/erase in there (haven't compared if/how they differ from o...

It could be probably detected when knowing what flash chip you have in there. If you don't know, disassemble the card, and post a photo of the hardware inside.Kryptonick wrote:I burnt version .44 and it loads. My Card won't be detected though, it's a cheapy thing - "Passcard PS-121B"

Re: MKPSXISO - A PlayStation ISO Maker to Replace BUILDCD
Normally the RIFF headers are injected by the Windows operation system. For example, if you use windows explorer to copy a file from cdrom to harddisk, and then open the harddisk file in a hex editor. In fact, I think you won't even need to copy the file: You could directly open the file on CDROM in...

Re: Getting best possible RGB picture out of PS1
Whoops, 5-10 pixels is quite huge. And considering that different TVs tend to have the screen centering adjusted differently, it might well sum up to even more pixels being cut-off at the screen sides. Quite a pity that the psx kernel doesn't provide an option for calibrating the screen-centering.
