Re: Compiling RUNIX (PSXLinux)
This Sunday, I will attempt to build a memcardduino using my arduino uno. If successful, I'll play around with creating a rootfs for the memory card. I don't currently have a working psx atm tho, so I'll have to upload it for others to try out....

Happy Turkey Day!
I know that this particular website is based out of Australia, but seeing as its a global community, many folks here (myself included) are probably from the US. Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Shadow, that's awesome! I couldn't even get it to compile but you at least got the executable running! Any chance you can upload the executable somewhere for others to look at? I'm in the process of repairing a psx motherboard at the moment so I don't currently have a functioning unit, but once I do...

I don't believe the bios is flushable at all. The fact that the guy in the video doesn't provide a dload link or refused to respond to to requests for it, they are clearly a troll

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip
Ps-x-change works good too. If you decide to give import game player another go, I can make an image of mine and patch it to NTSC-J and upload it somewhere. It's free software, so I have no issue with that. Ps-x-change was a commercial product (I have an original lol) but so can't link to that, but ...

Any chance you could upload you're working iso somewhere, so others could just burn and go?RetroGamer wrote:I tested this program and it works as it should. Can I schwitch video mode to PAL? Default VCD player starts in NTSC mode.
Would it be possible in an assembler to write an MP3 player as another challenge?

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip
Yes you can just burn the boot disc and boot it with your modchip. There's a free homebrew boot disc called importgameplayer which works wonders. You can download it here: http://www.consolecopyworld.com/psx/psx_utils_bootcd.shtml Any of those versions should do the trick, although the BootReplay is...

Re: Rendering resultion - 480p possible ?
I wonder if overclocking the psx would help with this? I did this before and in theory (I don't own an oscilloscope, so could not test it) you can double the clock speed of the CPU (its 66mhz before it goes through a frequency divider and into the CPU at 33mhz) and the GPU is capped at 40mhz for unk...

Re: Audio problem psx SCPH 5502
That shielding plate is stock on all psx (and possible psone, I can't remember to be honest) models. Sony wanted to make it difficult to get to the motherboard for reverse engineering (and installing modchips etc). Its completely unnecessary. As for the audio issue, yeah we need more specifics. Can ...

You should be reading 0 volts at GND (or close to it). How exactly did you measure it? I'm not sure I understand. Did you simply take the red lead from your meter and touch it to VCC and then the black to GND? If you'ryou're reading 3.5 volts that way your fine but if you put the red lead on GND and...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip
Eurasia.nu has a good selection of psx modchip hex files in the download section. I believe some of them have been ported to the pic12f series but I could be wrong. Definitely worth a look. The owner also sells preflashed chips too for next to nothing (since the code is free, you just pay a few extr...

Re: MemCARDuino - Arduino Memory Card reader
My best guess would be that this would need to be recompiled to run on a pi (as far as I know there's only an arduino version). It might not be as simple as that though, it might need to be manually ported over the hard way, I have no idea....

I think what he/she is trying to ask is how to compile a PSX exe for use with a serial or parallel cable as they're tired of wasting cd-r's for debugging.

Re: PS1 Memory Card does not format or detect (Genuine)
My best guess would be that the flash chip inside the memory card is 'toast.' There is one other thing you could try b4 calling it quits tho. There's a project on the forums here called memcardduino where you can build a memory card reader using an arduino device for injecting homebrew and save file...

Re: How ps1 games was made before?
AAA developers would've had access to the native SDK and most would be writing their own game engines from scratch. As for modeling etc, i'm not sure. Amateur programmers who were part of the Net Yaroze had access to an SDK called Psy-Q. Correct me if im wromg, but I belirve Psy-Q was limited in fun...
