Re: [Help] PS1 don't reconize any CD
I have one I can't get going either. Do you hear or see the sled move out? Do you see the audio tracks for an audio CD at the menu? Test fuses and voltage regulators. http://diagramas.diagramasde.com/otros/Playstation%20Service%20manual.pdf make sure the laser power connector is not loose on the boa...

Re: PSNee further development
OK, nice. I won't label them. I just had these lose their top layer before. Oh, I have Crash Bash original disk. Except I don't have a Plextor for dumping. I will try the original though. Here is what I wired up. I don't actually run 2 chips at once because CMOS chips are power parasitic, and these ...

Re: PSNee further development
Ah interesting. I read this entire thread, and rama3 did say at one point that he decided not to unlock disks with many audio tracks. The PsNee algorithm detects CD-DA disks, but also falsely unlocks the many audio track disks, yes? The PsNee method decided to do this to not unlock audio disks, but ...

Re: PSNee further development
I have an SCPH-1001 model with PU-8 board later revision (-22). I have successfully installed PSNee in my ps1 and it reads any originals and backups in different regions but my original japanese dance dance revolution disc won't read it as a game but goes to the cd player instead. Does it have some...

Weird effects from scratched game disks
I guess it is from old scratched original game disks, but I have a couple of old games that behave strangely on any system. Very strange is Ape Escape. When you boot it, then go to the memory card to load a game, the d-pad right doesn't respond. The game does this on more than one console, and the d...

Re: Hello, trying to fix SCPH-1001 and Xplorer V2 questions
Well that same optical pickup unit (CD unit), when installed in a working SCPH-9001, does not work. I did need to use an extension cable. It is a laser with the BAM letters, actually a knock-off I think. Perhaps defective, unless the PU-8 board somehow took it out? I finally got some BA6397FP chips....

Re: Hey so i bought this used psx and the chip wiring is wierd
Use a loupe or take a photo of the top of the chip under good lighting? The question really is, did the original installer wire it correctly? I can tell you what some of the points on the board are. From left to right; +5 volts, GATE_WFCK, the 3rd should be DATA, but I think they got it slightly off...

Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
@leafy Aaah yeah, tbh I didn't think anyone would *not* have .NET in 2020! There's a bunch more information over on the Nops page btw, I just added a pretty comprehensive user guide: https://github.com/JonathanDotCel/NOTPSXSerial you might be interested in /fast Heh heh, I know, I know... Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
Great! Thanks, I tried the V3 rom. I have yet to try no$psx. Give it a try, it's extremely fast ! ;) You may need to run it as administrator to let it install nocash io driver. I'm using it with the nocash kernel clone flashed on a dedicated Xplorer cartridge to test my PSF rips. It's a great setup...

SCPH-1001 laser issue CN701 pin 2, SL+ not showing drop
Unfortunately, there are a whole bunch of things that can stop the CD drive from working even if the optical pickup is good. Can it read the TOC on the disc (put in an audio disc and see if the track numbers appear in the CD player)? If it's not reading the TOC, then does the lens sweep up and down...

Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
@sickle Until I build my serial, I'm living in a parallel universe... ;) OK, I told you that NotPSXSerial is working fine under Windows XP. Needs the .NET framework installed to work. :) I wanted a way to test your UniROM versions without burning CD-R, and I have found that X-Killer will flash the R...

Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
@leafy You can use V1/V2/V3 roms with your device (256k ones). I gave a quick try with Xplorer V3 (England) r3.20 LIT 1999-08-11 and exe upload worked fine with no$psx without the wire/diode mod. Great! Thanks, I tried the V3 rom. I have yet to try no$psx. I got X-Killer working correctly finally. ...

Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
No nops on XP Boo! Again, that's not something I've tested, but the source is over on github.com/JonathanDotCel (NotPSXSerial is the full title). You could see about running it in mono? E.g. install mono, then run "mono nops /fast /exe whatever.exe COMwhatever"? Let me know how it goes, o...

Testing your MM3 pins, pin 6 is the data, pin 2 NOT LED
First, this is about the Multimode 3 mod chip. I think in most cases PSNee would be better, but many people still have or burn the MM3. MM3 is compiled for the PIC12C508, but can be written to the PIC12F508. You can't slap it on other chips without recompiling the source, and nobody is coughing it u...

Re: [SOLVED] RGB LED CD activity mod
So I tested the mod with a screen to see if the game boots, and yes, it does. And when the CD is accessed, the LED changes color. So absolutely working. Great! I just tested my MM3 and, no, there is nothing going on with pin 2. So the MM3 binaries floating around are either a different build or MM3...

That makes sense! I wonder if catflap or whatever can send those commands? Otherwise, it would be so cool if your boot disc did this.
OK, I will give the older versions of UniROM a try, and see what I can do with NotPSXSerial on XP.

Re: UniROM 8.0.C - CartDetector, AR/GS V2 Support, ExHandler, etc
You can use No$psx to send an executable over parallel cable to an Xplorer (you may want to use a V2/V3 rom with your device). I had to do this 1 wire mod to get it working with Nocash kernel clone, not sure if it's needed when using original XP roms, it's been a while since i tried with those. As ...

Re: Hello, trying to fix SCPH-1001 and Xplorer V2 questions
For your Xplorer needs, get Sickle's Unirom boot disc . It contains everything you need to restore original Xplorer roms or install Caetla ones. Thanks, I installed it but now I can't use catflap under Windows XP to send to the Caetla side. It just makes the cart. reset back to the main UniROM menu...

Re: PIC12F683 MM3 port?
Also, MM3 isn't really open source, is it? Never found the "proper" source code for it, only hex dumps. To answer your question better, not exactly. I don't know the origin of MM3, but there have been a couple of attempts to re-create what it does. The source you linked to is just someone...
