Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)

On the other hand i can't get any game to boot when using any retail bios with this release (2.0 is fine). It won't pass the first white Sony boot screen unless using the Bios intro skipping option or the BIOS clone instead. Thanks! I've looked into it, and figured out what's wrong: The DMA interru...

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)

CHD and PBP sounds interesting, especially if they provide some reasonable compression with random access, data and audio compression, and filtering out sector headers and error correction stuff. For CBD source code, I've found this: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/tools/chdman.cpp (...

NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)

Heya, I've been away from psx scene for a while, anyways here's a new no$psx & psxspx update. http://problemkaputt.de/psx.htm - no$psx homepage The main theme for that update are File Formats. Why? I just thought I would have a quick look at "what is on a CD?", and then I somehow could...

If your PC has a parallel port: Use the FiveWire mod (allows to upload EXE files from no$psx to the console).

Re: PSX Keyboard and Mouse Adaptor (SCPH-2000 Prototype)

Psxkey log stats it started as serial but moved to the controller port.. Hmmm, the terms micro controller and serial to pad could mean anything to me. But, going by the webpage, you are right. http://www.sinistersoft.com/psxkeyboard That page is also including the full keyboard source code (unlike ...

Re: PSX Keyboard and Mouse Adaptor (SCPH-2000 Prototype)

That are two homebrew projects, both dated around year 2000, unrelated to the Online Connection CD's keyboard (from 1997), and (most probably) unrelated to the SCPH-2000 hardware. The incomplete code snippets from Anthony Ball are using the PSX serial port (1F80105xh) instead of the controller port....

Re: PSX Keyboard and Mouse Adaptor (SCPH-2000 Prototype)

Contacting SCPH-2000 people could be a problem. There's somebody at atariage (I've registered there 5 years ago, and my registration is still in "validating" stage, meaning that the admin will want to review it before activating the account). And youtube doesn't support my PC at all. Regis...

Re: DTL-H1102 Optical Drive Replacement

No, the mainboard version doesn't matter too much. Except, there are different cdrom drives (with ribbon cables in different lengths), if you want to replace the drive, use one with matching cables for your console. I just meant that few peoples have replaced drives in DTL-H1201 consoles, but the sa...

Re: DTL-H1102 Optical Drive Replacement

CDROM repair/replacement should be same as for retail consoles with same mainboard... but you would have to open the console, and check what mainboard you have. As by now there isn't much known about DTL-H110x models. For the mainboard one could only guess that it might be an PU-8, 1-658-467-11 boar...

Re: PSX Keyboard and Mouse Adaptor (SCPH-2000 Prototype)

Now that the Online Connection CD was dumped, some findings about the PS/2 keyboard reading... Keyboard response data consists of 15 bytes: 1st byte: High-Z 2nd byte: ID (5Ah, fixed) 3rd byte: ID (96h, MSB; 9=Keyboard, LSB: 6=Six halfwords following, ie. 12 bytes) 4th byte: Number of keyboard scanco...

Re: Released Lightspan Online Connection CD

Interesting. Controller ID for the PS2 keyboard/mouse adaptor seems to be 96h. I haven't yet figured out how it's transferring the actual keyboard/mouse data. After the ID byte, there seems to be an 8bit "number of following bytes" entry, then followed by whatever bytes, maybe that are the...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

Explorer seems to be mis-detected, as it's not compatible with the Datel memory map. Maybe your programming tool doesn't support Game Sharks? Or it's hardcoded to expect to use sst29ee020 only in xplorer carts? Can't help there. But you could try other tools... For example, my own stuff http://www.p...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.

Game Shark is Datel hardware, and it's having 512Kbytes FLASH memory? Datel carts are having 128Kbyte or 256Kbyte FLASH. There are rumours about a "PAR3" version having 512Kbytes FLASH, but its memory and I/O map wasn't really reverse engineered yet (apart from some cryptic/poorly translat...

Re: NO$PSX V2.0 Released (12th Aug 2017)

Many thanks! Good to know that the data/control registers are internally just called r0-r31 (I was thinking that they might use different names like c0-c31 and d0-d31 to distinguish between cpu, data, and control registers - but apparently, they don't do so). The macros are also very interesting. Ho...

Re: NO$PSX V2.0 Released (12th Aug 2017)

I've spend some hours on searching for GTE source code. That's really hard to find, almost looks as if nobody has ever programmed or disassembled GTE code yet, so there doesn't seem to be any common syntax for GTE stuff. The only public code that I've found is this: https://github.com/iamgreaser/psx...

Re: NO$PSX V2.0 Released (12th Aug 2017)

I am still working on this. Displaying source code lines for SYM and ELF files seems to be working okay. SYM file research/support is rather unsatisfying since the basic "class/type" constants are still unknown. I don't know what I could do about it... I've already asked twice... so well, ...

Re: how to use debugger ?

Works fine for me. Just key-in instructions in the disassembler window, using the same syntax as how the instructions are shown by the disassembler. For "je/jne/jmp" you would also need to type parameters, eg. "jmp 0bfc00000", or "j bfc00000" if you've selected to alter...

Re: VCD Player for PSX (software based)

Why, what for??? From what I've gathered, the Playback Conrol feature is almost always useless & often containing corrupt/bugged data. I think the best way to support PBC discs is to leave PBC unimplemented, isn't it? PS. here are my findings on PBC: http://problemkaputt.de/psx-spx.htm#vcdisopla...

Re: VCD Player for PSX (software based)

Ah, okay, if it's a PAL disc then the aspect ratio will be wrong/stretched. I don't have a PAL disc myself (apart from the demovcd which is more focusing on VCD2.0 menues than on actual movie viewing). If you could upload some small freeware PAL VCD disc image would be cool. But it might be a bit di...
