Re: hifi ps1 with screen selector

Type 79 already did this project 8 years ago. I remember it. http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=112 His website is dead now and the videos in his worklog are not working, but here is his YouTube channel where you can still find the videos. There are several videos to watch. https:...

Re: Both XA & STR files in a single Multi Channel XA file. Is it possible to replicate?

It's called interleaving. The XA audio is interleaved with the STR data. MC32 can do this for you but it's very picky about the type of format you use to convert. I use FFMPEG to convert it to the right format. Make sure you match the framerate and dimensions. ffmpeg -i INPUT.AVI -vcodec rawvideo -s...

Re: PlayStation Motor Spindle Gripping (RF-300A Mabuchi)

Use clock oil on the motors. If it still doesn't come back, replace the motor with another. They are only generic 6 Volt DC CD-ROM motors so they are readily available :)

Re: Can we make it so that non-members can see and download attachments?

PSXDEV.NET is free and I've been operating it out of my pocket for over 9 years now with zero ads or donations asked. I disabled downloads without signups ages ago because the server was being absolutely hammered with people just hot-linking and downloading like crazy and it was costing me hundreds ...

Re: Here's a question - why do 3D models on the PS1 tend to shake and jitter like they do?

The PSX doesn't have a floating point co-processor so everything is integer based for high-speed computational output. Technically you can do FPU operations but it's all software emulated which is slow. Overall, because of the lack of an FPU it results in quick movements which aren't fluid.

Re: PSX - Undo deleted save file?

How it works is the Memory Cards use a basic FAT filesystem which includes an un-delete option to recover the previously sector marked as free. If you format the card, then you can't un-delete obviously. Sony has some example Psy-Q programs which can demonstrate this. As for which models have it, th...

Re: Problem using Wituz's constants libary

LibDS isn't included in your library path. Edit PSYQ.INI in the BIN directory and add it and also ensure you have the correct header included in your C code.

We can't disable line wrapping I'm sorry.
Maybe if I recoded the PHP logic. I'll have a look into that.
Did you finally dumped scph-102?
No, I never dumped the SCPH-102. I only dumped my SCPH-1002.

Re: PsyQ CD Emulator with SCSI2SD?

Yes, I've used one on my CD Emulator and it does work. Sometimes it does glitch out when using CDDISK.EXE (usually after having loaded a game/image from the SCSI2SD), so I just installed a real SCSI HDD and I haven't had any problems since. The SCSI2SD I was using though was old. It was the model fr...

Re: DTL-H240 PS-X Dev RGB Kabel

It's just a DB-9 to SCART cable with a lot of shielding. Nothing special at all. It was just an extra cable Sony made to help get developers up and running should they have had a SCART based monitor.

Re: What are the signals int and sas?

Pin 8 (INT) is the interrupt line which is only used by lightguns mainly, but perhaps some special PS2 devices may use it too.

No idea what SAS is. That terminology isn't used.

Re: is there another way to play FMV videos besides .str?

They are probably set to 320x240 at 15 FPS to save room on the disc, or the developers got lazy and just used what they had and what worked. I've got STR to playback at 30 FPS without any issues. It works fine if you convert everything properly.

Use lithium grease on the plastic gears. Not oil. You only use oil inside the spindle motor.

The sled (on both sides) should have grease, and all the plastic gears should have a little grease on them too.

Re: is there another way to play FMV videos besides .str?

Some developers wrote their own formats where they would store image data in a different way to either compress or lose artefacts due to a different encoding method. 8-bit TIM's would get you a framerate faster than 15 FPS (in theory). I would imagine >30 FPS for 8-bit if done correctly using a mult...

Re: tonyhax - PS1 softmod backup loader thing using THPS2/3

Depends on the programmer if they decided to add a checksum routine for the Memory Card data. As far as I know, it was not required to pass Sony's qualification.
