Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Okay, here's the list, I went them all through: Bgm0A-00CD <--- Altar discovery music, sounds correct, PC version is completely different. (Total length = 1:48 (loops 0:25-1:48 endlessly)) Bgm0B-00CE <--- wrong instruments on drum beat, one of the many base themes, PC version is identical. (Total le...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

The reverb option on that PSF codec for foobar2000 sounds okay for there, I'll investigate these and try to trigger them ingame so do comparisons. So far at least compared to PC version, these sounds pretty close, but some instruments were off/wrong. Nevertheless, great job, we're almost done! Edit:...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Omg, Omg! Just tested it out in foobar2000, works like a charm! And oh it sounds so smooth and clean.

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Yet another new save file, this time with new track playing on the Altar section (damn they mixed those organs high, makes you deaf! :D)

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

I can see the logic on that, but when it suddenly mutes when changing to different camera angle, that's really weird. It's either programming error or weird design choise (which this game is obviosly full of).

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

The way the game loads the music ingame is perhaps a bit broken. I noticed that when I managed to get underground section, that the new music playing over there only plays on two/three camera angles upon entering the place, but when you walk away from those, the music cuts out instantly to a complet...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Not at all, don't be sorry, this is just sparetime project that you work if you like :D Well thing is that I ripped those tracker files out of Driver games and I lack the skills with tracker music compositions and how to use the software. So far, I've ripped SEQ files out of PSF's from other games a...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Btw, this could also lead into channel volume adjustments ? So that we could adjust each instrument separately ?

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

The first column is all about the actual sound volume and what frequencies the output sound has. If you go into the audio menu and put the music volume slider into zero, that whole first column goes to zero and stops changing.

There's someone at the Discord channel who knows all about debug stuff, hopefully he finds something, that I can pass on to you.

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

@DD-Indeed: that tool takes it a step further and instead of creating PSF files converts ADPCM samples to pcm, then proceeds to insert them inside the .xm files to make them playable from pc... good stuff, thanks for the link :) We could recruit the guy to do the same thing with Martian Gothic, hah...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Well with Dino Crisis, it's a Capcom game, made with similar tools that of RE-games, so they originally made the music in MIDI-format I believe, which was then converted to sequence data etc. I did rip Dino Crisis 1 to PSF. ;) If you want the set i can share it, maybe using PM as i'm not sure if it...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

I need to ask him about it and paste it over here, so you can read about it. That's terrific, thanks! Also, you should then think about developing the tool even further, with some other games as well Not sure about which tool you're talking about, but like I said at the beginning of this thread the...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Yea sure, if you guys can make that work, it would be brilliant of course! Also, you should then think about developing the tool even further, with some other games as well. :)

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

@DD-Indeed: if you happen to have any no$psx savestates in points of the game where different music is played I would be fine with them, since I exclusively use no$psx for live analysis. Well the trouble is that the game basically plays only 2-3 songs + main theme on boot, unless I progress more in...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Here's one that's done later in the game. Luckily I managed to get some GameShark cheats for it (Infinite Health + Ammo), so that I'm not dying all the time.

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Well, if I'm gonna play it through, it takes couple days, as it's difficult game and contains so many puzzles :D But I can make regular saves and savestates, will be using Beetle PSX HW thru RetroArch. Edit: This ain't gonna work. I have progressed pretty well in the game (despite it being clunky as...

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Well I can play it a bit further and hopefully it would load different songs by that, and save the game when those occur.

Btw, you can't use savestates ?

Re: Extracting custom container (.DAT) package from disc

Okay, so it picks up them individually then from all packs, this makes things even more harder :D Only if we could emulate just the music loading process of the game to get those playing and then get them ripped from the datastream. Or, last chance is just to force each track playing in the Main Men...
