Re: Airport - WIP

Time for a new video. :) This time I had to make some important internal modifications because sprites being rendered in bad order (e.g.: aircraft would be overlapping building sprites). Also, aircraft list menu has been simplified quite a lot.

NO$PSX - Error "loadlibraryfailure 0000007E"

As the topic title describes, I am trying to load an original PSX CD-ROM (FIFA Football 2005 in this case) and try to run it under no$psx emulator, but I get the following error: http://i64.tinypic.com/2wd1107.png http://i65.tinypic.com/5yys90.png Am I probably missing some configuration parameters?...

Re: [GGJ 2017] DeathBall

I've got it working in no$psx to reach the screen with Play / Credits buttons, but then it seems to hang there. Or, wait, does it require two joypads, and is supposed to 'hang' with only one joypad? It should work both with one or two joypads. In fact, also had the same problem with other PSXSDK-ba...

Re: KSM-440BAM PSOne CD reader scratching

The unit came as a complete deck. I only had to unplug the cables, place in the new unit and connect the cables again. It's also failing to work using other CD-ROMs.

Re: KSM-440BAM PSOne CD reader scratching

Today I have received my new KSM-440BAM, but my SCPH-102 unit still cannot read any CD-ROMs. You can see the CD does not touch the CD reader surface, so what could it be causing the problem?

KSM-440BAM PSOne CD reader scratching

Hi everyone, From one day to another, my SCPH-102 decided not to work anymore. The console features a one-year-old Chinese-manufactured KSM-440BAM CD reader. There seem to be two problems here: 1. I dissassembled the unit and I saw that the disk is not spinning freely since the two tiny screws below...

Re: [GGJ 2017] DeathBall

I have added a new, much lighter BIN/CUE image directly on Github (the other >100 MB image was not allowed by Github size limit constraints). Also, I have made some small bugfixes which should fix the hangs caused by loading files. Since y'all have stated that padding is not an useful technique, I w...

Re: [GGJ 2017] DeathBall

The image was made this big on purpose with garbage data (what is usually called like "padding"). I was told that it was easier for the PSX CD-ROM reader to read CDs with more data, and that even some commercial games used this tecnique, as well. On the other hand, Deathball was tested on ...

Re: [RPG] Zia and the Goddesses of Magic

My advice is not to take this too seriously. PS1 has always been a tough console for homebrew, hence the small community even in its golden age.

Re: [RPG] Zia and the Goddesses of Magic

In my opinion, modchipping has never been easier. One can get modchips for less than 10US$ and solder them in less than a few hours. It only requires you to be careful, but it's an easy task nevertheless. Shamefully though, although if PSX is actually being played a lot (see how many gameplay videos...

maybe PSX1 (500 CDs with booklet, manual, signature) version too. forget it, you will sell less than 10. I made a 16bits RPG called Zia and the goddesses of magic, available on my website: http://orionsoft.free.fr/retroshop/ps1.htm I sold about 15 units ... same for my puzzle game Yopaz IceStar, ar...

Re: Code debugging without real hardware

PCSX-R also allows console output. Just activate these two check boxes on "CPU Config" window:

Could it be possible to modify PCSX-R's source code to allow ELF files with debugging symbols so as to run it using GDB? :shrug

[GGJ 2017] DeathBall

Me and a few mates participated on this year's Global Game Jam, and we decided to create a PS1 in less than 48 hours! The result was a 2-player versus arcade game featuring two beach balls fighting for their lifes! Source code link: https://github.com/Galbar/GGJ-2017 BIN/CUE image: https://github.co...
