Re: I mode cable/software
I am still workinjg on that obscure cable, and making some progress on solving the message layer for the 80h-byte stream. First hurdle This almost made me give up. The first thing you see when looking at the 80h-byte message handling is stuff like this: 800DC518 00001810 mov r3,hi ;N*ADD5E633h/10000...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
So, even with excellent pictures, I guess it would be impossible to see it to the eye. I can't even find a simple drawing, like those in the playstation pdf patent file. As far as I understand, the 22kHz wobble is everywhere on CDRs (as timing mark), and there's some kind of additional wobbling for...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
1) I am quite sure that there are already modchips doing that, that's nothing new. 3) How on earth could the spindle speed affect the sled seek times??? Faster rotation is only needed in Lead-in, doing it elsewhere would cause issues on movie/audio streaming timings. 4) It's just a normal disc with ...

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)
Those aren't anywhere near 71 minutes, the PoPorogue http://redump.org/disc/1552/ page does even tell you that the track is only 66:24:04 tall. Counting the size in bytes isn't too reliable as the actual length depends on the amount of bytes per sector. Anyways, the Judge Dredd binary is 750,048,096...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)
No, you can't "convert the oscilloscope read to data". I meant that "you must convert the data yourself", based on the sony patent and on the cdrom specs. And thereafter, you could use the oscilloscope to verify if you have actually converted it as planned. Wiring a oscilloscope ...

A complete copy of the US6122739 patent - with images - can be found here https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/d5/46/ad/1d807e35807464/US6122739.pdf it's referring to "wobble" and "wobbling" in the "radial direction", and the images (FIG.2B and FIG.3) are illustr...

Re: NO$PSX V2.1 Released (20th Aug 2022)
Interesting. I don't remember where the 72 minute number came from, it's probably one of the many theories about the exact capacity of the original CDs. As for CDRs, the existing sizes listed on german wikipedia are 21, 23, 63, 71 , 74, 80, 90, 99, and 100 minutes, http://web.archive.org/web/2/http:...

Re: I mode cable/software
For the response messages mentioned above (eg. 38h,02h etc), Hamster Club-i contains a terrible table (at 80101F9C), plus several child tables for computing the format/length of the separate messages: C0h..CFh 19h 35h,x, ... , endflag(bit0) 38h,data[1] 61h,data[10h] 64h,01h 64h,02h,data[1] 64h,03h,d...

I got some background info on japaenese phones via PM... The biggest problem with those Japanese phone expansion connectors is that there are lots of variants - about the only pins you can generally expect to be the same are the ones used for charging the battery. Different variants used different s...

I've found pinouts for another similar connector. Interestingly, it does list wirings for different external devices like PC cable, printer, or download (whatever that is). And another breakthrough: The name "iNavilink" in the pdf is bogus. The correct spelling appears to be "i-Navi Link". With that keyword, the search results have almost doubled (from "near zero" to "not much more"). Hmmm, that doesn't change my overall impressi...

Re: I mode cable/software
One major finding: There's a whole web browser for I-Mode. And it's somewhat hidden in plain sight: The SCPH-10180K package contains the SCPH-10180 cable, and PBPX-95013 cdrom (with some gray-on-gray artwork in a gray cardboad box, it's almost invisble, and looks more like a random CDR than an actua...

Re: Music Skipping? MultiAV OK, RCA Skipping.
That isn't possible, there is no real difference between the two audio connectors. Are you sure that the cdrom is skipping? It might be as well bad audio contacts. Find a game that plays music even when removing the cdrom disc, and check if the "skipping" does still occur. Bad contacts: Ch...

Re: I mode cable/software
Here's what I've found out on the software protocol. There are several software layers, with messages being somehow forward from one layer to another, and finally passed to hardware IRQ handlers. And the whole thing depends on state variables, which are used to decide which messages are generated or...

Does that problem happen to anyone else?
Loading time is about 5-10 seconds, with occassional timeouts, and it does occassionally shows distorted pages, eg. with missing icons on the left of the topics list.

you can use the circle button to dash which will help you make gaps. That much I knew. Re: DTL-H2000 CD Software Emulation : Possible ?
I still think I'm better off with XplorerFX and Caetla for now. That... with SPU streaming... the Xplorer transfer functions are spending most of the time on awkwardly polling status bits (instead of just transferring the data bytes at reasonable speed)... and in lack of DMA, it's stalling the MIPS...
