Re: Xplorer carts
Hmm, still very weird. If you're using my XKiller patch, it should really let you attempt to flash 384kb ROMs onto any old card without checking. (Before it wouldn't even let me flash 384k onto a 512k cart). Good thinking on the XLink, hahah. I've made another patch for it over here: http://www.psxd...

Updated to remove region restrictions and allow flashing of older ROMs onto FXs etc.

Re: intro
I guess maybe even though it's SPP, it's not as fast as an EPP or ECP port? On my mobo's BIOS I have to select at least ECP before I get any kinda stability Have you tried with both Caetla and XPlorer ROMs btw? They both use pretty different protocols. (XPlorer being a fucking nightmare with a looku...

Rather than hoarding it, would you at least sell the thing?

Re: Xplorer carts
So have you tried booting from CD? It's definitely more reliable than hotswap. Or are you saying that when you boot from CD it doesn't detect the EEPROM at all? Sorry also I didn't realise XLink was region locked, and I don't think I modded that out - I don't have a non-english Xplorer to test on : ...

hehe, some nice points there! You're quite right with the emulation, it's not perfect, but no$psx it does a wonderful job of even the really low level stuff! Definitely my favourite emu! Would actually be pretty cool if it installed a virtual COM port driver you could fiddle with, now you mention it...

Re: Creating PSX Trainer
Awesome, thanks for sharing that ^^ I never realsed trainers worked like that... always assumed it was either: -the trainer loaded the .EXE into memory, patched it then jumped to the regular start address or -trainer installed an address hook *on* the address hook address, so when the game installed...

Hopefully this guide will give you a better idea of what software to use where. A lot of things have been updated or patched to run on windows 7 and up.

Re: PSX->PC via Arduino Uno R3 (
Heyhey. My Arduino has a 3.3v switch, so I've never used 232's. The resistor is needed, but it's not because of voltage issues - the resistor cleans up the signal a bit. There are lots and lots of schematics for making your own hardware with 232's all over this forum and on places like hitmen's site...

Beginner's guide to connecting to the PSX.
I keep seeing the same questions about how to get the PSX set up for homebrew. To be fair, objectively it's probably a bit of a nightmare to figure out the best solution for you given that there are so many options spanning about 20 years, and various fragmented posts here and there might make thing...

Re: Xplorer carts
Heyhey, you'll find the ROMs and a nice conversion table showing which cart can accept which ROM here (in theory): http://www.murraymoffatt.com/playstation-xplorer.html But uhm, how are you booting XKiller to do the hotswap? If you're booting off a cart, it's far less reliable on a bricked XPlorer, ...

Wow, really silly mistake, sorry about that CDR!
That's it uploaded again on the same URL. I've added the line "V0.44" to the top of x_readme.txt so you can be sure your're not grabbing the old cached version.

Re: UniROM 0.24 - Bugfixes, woo!
Update to 0.44 For shame... I was looking through the code, and it seems I've already had to good sense to check if the pin started low, *then* went high, incase (like with a gameshark) it was high by default. Trouble is it wasn't resetting the check to 0 when rebooting... just using whatever value ...

Re: UniROM 0.24 - AutoLaunch, Plugins, Smaller
Heyhey, sorry this has dragged on so long guys... been a little tight for time and I've not had a chance to set up an old PC with ISA slots for the non-XPlorers. I think the GS/XP issues are kinda related... one of the pins on the GS is high by default and on the XP low by default (or the other way ...

Re: PSX CD-Player only Project
Magnifico projects. I have some questions. 1) I have the Action Replay Pro connected to the PSX. Will I work with Arduino? 2) Is there a wiring diagram for how the cables with PSX and Arduino connected? 3) you Can control the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM audio with PlayStation 2? Regards. 1) Rom goes on Actio...

Re: UniROM 0.24 - AutoLaunch, Plugins, Smaller
Sorry about this long ass delay - I typed this up in notepad a while ago and got distracted! I'm having a slight issue with the UniROM 2.4 on my gray GameShark, where it will automatically boot to X-Flash, unless it randomly decides to stay at the menu. I don't believe it does this on 2.0, and I don...

Generally best to get the right laser, like he says.
You might have some luck with a different one... I have a later laser working in an SCPH1002 model for example, but it required cutting into the plastic to fit properly 'cause of the subtle difference in shape.
