Re: Weird colours on PAL (demodded) SCPH-1002
Oooohhhh I get it now. Someone performed a PAL color mod on the consoles (to get PAL60 in NTSC games). When you removed mods (modchip, oscillator and bridges) you also removed a bridge which connected that trace to GND. SCPH-1002 and SCPH-9002 boards differ so for 9002 removing bridge and connecting...

Hm... That image looks like it's missing a red channel but the background would be aqua, not white. Could it be that your phone fixed white balance? Here is my recreation. sony logo.png Is there anything strange around IC501? And do you have an RGB cable to test the RGB output to see if it's fine?

Re: SIOCONS compatible USB Cable
Yes, that cable has FTDI chip but also a ZT213 which converts TTL signals given by the FTDI to RS232. If you were to remove ZT213 or add MAX232 then yes, you can use the cable. Otherwise no. Just check out the name of that cable: YIDAMA-TONGLE for Win 8, Win 10, Android, Mac, FT232+ZT213 , USB to RJ...

Re: SIOCONS compatible USB Cable
I believe those are RS232 cables and not TTL. I remember from my high school days in Cisco course we used cables with DB9 to RJ45 connectors which those cables you linked are emulating. In short, you will fry your PS1 if you connect it without MAX232 IC. Edit: Haha, I still have one of those lying a...

Hm, that's a great observation Danhans42 but I don't think that's the issue if NexTro is working. Apart from a different size defined in header all applications (working and non working) have the same initial load address. Must be something else... Re: PSX BIOS Dumper
Older versions were made using blade's libs while 2.6 was made using PSXSDK. Might be related.
Can you try launching something form this list? Those applications are all programmed using PSXSDK.

Re: Project Scarlet - My very own 3D engine for the PSX
Impressive work LameGuy. You probably already know about this but if not it might be useful. The Playstation had this oddball 512×240 video mode that everyone else ignored, it wasn’t standard (320×240) and ate up video memory others wanted for textures. But it looked SHARP and we found the machi...

Re: PS2?
I imagine, nobody has yet found out how to create a 3D program for the PS. Not true. There is plenty of 3d homebrew, even from back in the day: http://hitmen.c02.at/html/psx_releases.html And even for the alternative libs like Rob Withey's . Download libs and there will be a compiled 3d car demo wi...

Re: PS2?
You have to understand that these are custom systems with a custom architecture using a proprietary api for programming. Most of the info that we know about these consoles has been learned through reverse engineering, sony doesn't flail documentation around. When you are a licensed developer you hav...

Re: PS2?
You need a posix environment to run ps2sdk. You can use cygwin, MinGW or some linux distro if you are comfortable with it.

Re: PS2?
You can use retail models to do PS2 development. Just install FMCB and you are there. Edit: Unless you have a 90000 series, then you need a modchip. Or buy a cheap older unit with a broken laser, you don't need a working drive to dev on it. Testing your code is actually easier than on the PS1. You c...

Hi. There should be a cue/bin image in the Hardware directory in the archive.
If you can't find it download MemcardRex from here.

If you are installing versions of gcc and binutils I listed in the first post make sure to install all mentioned packages (wget, make, mkisofs, g++, gmp, mpfr, mpfr-dev, mpc, diffutils) in cygwin.

@Soulgriever: Yes it's possible but there is no support for it in the software (yet). As for power supply check out this post . @Meta: No need to disconnect power supply. Each SPI device already has SS (slave select) line for that purpose. So each card needs to be activated (by pulling the line low)...

Re: New open-source apps to upload PSX-EXE and external data
Awesome. I was thinking, can you add some kind of checksum while uploading data chunks to memory? That way if you are testing your code and data is already in memory from last time upload function can just skip the file and go to the next one. Or if a file is slightly modified from the last time onl...
