Re: PSone doesn't spin games
yes, just the modchip. The individual components, I was referring to as the same ones Shadow was referring to that were damaged on your current motherboard. Those are likely near impossible to find, unless you pull them off an existing motherboard, but it would be much less work to just replace the ...

Re: PSone doesn't spin games
Where can I get those components or a new motherboard? Post the link if you got that please if you go the route of replacing the mobo, you could get a cheap dead console on eBay or something. One with a bad laser where the mobo is fine, and swap it out. You'll need to reinstall the modchip onto the...

Re: PSone doesn't spin games
Is this your first install ever? No offense, just trying to get an understanding of where your skill set is at. By the looks of it, you may have damaged your CPU (in the last picture at the bottom). Does this even turn on at all? The console might still be salvagable, the damage could be strictly co...

Re: PSone doesn't spin games
Can you snap a photo of your modchip install so we can see if there are any apparent issues that can be seen visually? Also sorry for the confusion in responding to your other thread. I didnt realize you were the same person, until you PM'ed me lol. I dont think my coffee is fully working this morni...

Re: Help: Modchip PSone
Yes, that's the chip you want to go with, it should play pretty much anything you throw at it. As for the diagram (I've actually forgotten my login details for the Eurasia forums, its seperate from the online shop login) so I can't download it to confirm, but as long as you grabbed the one that's li...

Re: Help: Modchip PSone
Due to the super low cost of psx chips these days, I recommend just ordering one preprogrammed from Eurasia. I've been dealing with Eurasia for years now, top notch customer service without a hitch. The owner (Robert) is very helpful as well and super knowledgeable about hardware and modding in gene...

Re: online play through system link port
Yes it's possible, but you'd have to program the Pi obviously to route the serial data over TCP/IP. As for the latency, I'm not sure what the threshold would be before the PSX either generates a timeout exception. Best to check out Lameguy's work here . I highly doubt system link games have a ping ...

Re: Wobbling disk
Ya you should never put wd40 inside the electric motors. I guarantee that's what killed it. In fact, I would leave the motors themsekves alone and just put lube on just the sled rail and maybe the gears, bur nothing else. As for the poor quality assembly ya that can happen when buying knockoffs from...

Re: Wobbling disk
WD40 is fine but ONLY in very small amounts. It isn't really meant for that, but i've been using it for years without issues in old retro cd/dvd drives. The trick is to use only a tiny pinch across the sled rail. So literally just a small pinch between two fingers, than fully cover the rail with onl...

Re: MCLaunch 1.0 - Memory Card PS-X EXE launcher
Emulation has already been achieved for this purpose, but I hear ya. Compatibility is very spotty. There's the official $ony pop station emu for ps2 which got leaked ages ago which has a higher compatibility rate than ps2psxe, but its technically illegal to possess or use (copy written closed source...

Re: Caetla/Ahoy from CD?
Im know expert on psx dev (pretty far from it, I'm a total noon lol) but it may be possible with a total rewrite or some sort of "sorcery" with cart emulation. I agree with the poster above me though, you're better off getting a CD based cheat program like gameshark lite or something. Why ...

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.
Are you able to record a quick video of this happening (the sound), so myself or others can let you know if it sounds OK or not? The psx (big gray models) tend to be pretty loud, but its better to be safe than sorry.
EDIT: nice work on the tutorial BTW!

Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.
What speed are you burning you discs at? Also are you creating proper iso's/images before actually burning them to a disc? Copying from one drive to another is a very bad practice when it comes to console games. Also the slower you burn your discs the more accurate they'll be. I usually burn my disc...

Re: Lubrication
Personally I've been using very small amounts of WD-40 as needed on the sled rails of game consoles (as needed) for years without a hitch. You just want to use a tiny dab of it on each rail and converted it smoothly and even. There shouldn't be any excess that drips off. If so, you've way over done ...

Re: Hot When Powered Off
84'F is around 30'C isn't it? That's not really hot, and that's normal (unfortunately). All Playstations are fitted with fake Power switches that can only disable the supply's DC output, but not the AC input. So the power supply will be always quite warm and waste a good bit of energy. Wow, that's ...

Re: Overclocked my Playstation Today!
From what I understand it "should" be clocked at 66mhz as that's what I'm feeding into the CPU directly, however I lack an oscilloscope so I can't actually test that theory. That one's all you :P UPDATE 5/23/17: (I'm in the states, in case you're wondering why my date format is weird lol)....
