Lol, it's almost like a rite of passage - installing linux on every console. You're doing god's work, lad.

Re: Strange Game Hunter cartridge
To clarify what likeabaus says, you could burn a copy of Zippy/Ahoy (caetla 0.34 with auto cd stop) onto an XFlash CD or burn unirom onto one ( caetla + launch backups without swapping, like freemcboot ) onto a CD. You'd only have to do the hard-swap once...to get the firmware flashed onto the cart....

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
Heh no worries. Pretty sure .38 can upgrade from the MC, but maybe another member can confirm? Not really sure how the icon is handled or what format it uses, but there are tons of PSX memory card programs out there for changing names, values, icons, etc. maybe you'll find something that can do it a...

Awesome, ty =)
(I noticed system .CNF seems to appear at LBA 34 when opening .ISOs for extraction wasn't really sure if it made much difference other than for seek times.)

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
Okie, so the file you posted... is an already compiled binary file.. without a header. Possible use: appending manually onto the rom. What you're after (I think) is making a file you can pop on a memory card and upgrade from there? If that is the case... This setting turns the file you just sent (de...

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
Shouldn't matter.. i'm in Win7 x32 and it seems to be fine.
What methods did you try?
What block size?
Does the headerless option work?
Screenies. Omg screenies!
Might help if you share the file too?

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
IT's a .BIN file if you're decompiling... it's a text-ish file if you're compiling =)

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
Aaah cool, didn't realise the DOS version had example .BIN files. I grabbed that one off the last 16kb of the .rom from yesterday and it decompiled fine with the windows tools (tick the decompile flag).. The tool does seem to be a bit borked though if you're trying to compile for memory card and cho...

:O This is cool! Loving the XML - I can't wait to give it a whirl!
Also, thanks for documenting the XML so heavily... it's answered pretty much every question I had. Just wondering is system.cnf always in the right location if it's listed as the first file?

Re: Cheat file for Caetla/Xplorer/etc
Here's a copy of Caetla 0.34 patched to PAL/English with cheats. I assume your 0.38 is only about 100kb (vs 128kb) so flash this first, which will leave the cheats written onto the EEPROM and hopefully when you install 0.38 over it, it'll read the cheats. If your 0.38 is the full 128KB... then eithe...

Re: UniROM 0.44 - Bugfixes, woo!
Little update: That's cheats back in and working on the Caetla side of things! Turns out pretty much every 0.34 version you can find doesn't have the final 14ish kb where all the cheats are, and just crashes so I grabbed some placeholders from Zippy. As long as your EEPROM is supported you should be...

I wonder - are you finding some games load a decent amount faster than others? (As if there's some kinda decompression going on)

Re: Strange Game Hunter cartridge
It's one of *very* many similar knockoffs in the same case shape, with a variety of hacked Caetla (ROM) derivatives. If you're looking to use it for imports there's probably 3 outcomes here (once you've wedged down the disk lid sensor) 1- If you're kinda lucky you can boot with a black disk in, it'l...
