Re: Xplorer carts

Did you get your cart with this version already installed or did you manually update it from an .fcd file ? Hi, i bought it from Japanese market. The update was already on...

Re: PSone - What kind of mod is this?

Also, where are the other wires going?? You didn't take a photo of the complete solder work. Really sorry. I'm afraid if i touch it, i might mess up something. So i decided to leave it there like it was. Yeah, it's a Video CD player board - the CL680 is one of the original single-chip VCD player de...

Re: PSone - What kind of mod is this?

Very curious. I agree with shadow on the hardware VCD player. That is the most likely modification that would warrant such an amount of logic in the early 2000s. That makes sense for me too. By the way i did swap the faulty laser with a working laser just to test this unit with games. It can read d...

PSone - What kind of mod is this?

Hello all. Can you guys identify what kind of mod is this? It was found inside a broken PSone (SCPH-103) that i bought from a garage sales. I'm so curious about it. By the way the laser is broken. It doesn't spin nor have any laser at all. I attached some photos below hope you guys can help me...

Re: What type of modchip is this? (PU-8)

That looks like the OldCrow type which was used in the SCPH-100x series a lot. There's no chip number? Unfortunately the chip number can't be seen anymore. BTW i did swap the chip with my old crow inside scph-1002 and it refuse to boot disc. It just kicked me into memory card @ cd player screen (tr...

Re: [Diagram]SCPH-1000/3000 PU-7 MM3 Stealth Install

Hi Community, It started when I bought a SCPH-3000 from eBay. Because these Japanese Systems are not that common here in the EU. I just fell in love with the PU-7 Boards. Not only the SCPH-1000 runs with a PU-7 Mainboard, also the SCPH-3000 does, they just removed the S-Video. There was zero inform...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

Ps-x-change works good too. If you decide to give import game player another go, I can make an image of mine and patch it to NTSC-J and upload it somewhere. It's free software, so I have no issue with that. Ps-x-change was a commercial product (I have an original lol) but so can't link to that, but...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

I'm almost sure that these boot disks still have some sort of legal protection / copyright on them so nope, sorry. You can look for a region patcher though. They patch the license data to any region you want. You could, for example, patch your bootdisk to Japan region and be sure that that part is ...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

There is either a subtle error in the image you downloaded or you made a mistake burning it to CD. In any case, your PSX hangs while trying to parse the license data or the actual PSX executable. Would you suggest any other boot disk image other than importplayer that can guarantee working with Jap...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

Yes you can just burn the boot disc and boot it with your modchip. There's a free homebrew boot disc called importgameplayer which works wonders. You can download it here: http://www.consolecopyworld.com/psx/psx_utils_bootcd.shtml Any of those versions should do the trick, although the BootReplay i...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

Japanese consoles have an additional region check in the boot routine. On these consoles, you need either a boot disk, an expansion cart (Gameshark, etc), or a BIOS swap to PAL or NTSC-U. Those regions don't do the extra check, so for them, only a modchip is required. We should really have this inf...

Re: Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

Japanese consoles do not directly start other region games, no matter if original or copy. Try to run a Japan region backup. If it works, your modchip works fine. Yes. The Japanese backups and original works fine. So that means my mochip works like what it should be? I thought modchip is supposed t...

Okay finally i've finished installing my modchip with MM3 hex on my SCPH-7000 (Japanese Region) and SCPH-100 (also Japanese Region). I have check every point from the diagram that i use below but it doesn't work when i put the backup games (PAL or NTSC US). The original PAL games also will kick me t...

Question about PIC12F629 for PS1 Modchip

Hello guys, first of all sorry for my English. I have question regarding the PIC12F629 that i bought from Chinese website. I didn't notice that i have bought the wrong type of PIC. The one that i bought is the smaller size of PIC but the type is still PIC12F629. By the way, i'm using K150 Programmer...

Re: [Hardware Mod] NTSC/PAL reference oscillator mod for PU-

The other nice thing is that now it runs at the correct speed in NTSC mode (a PAL console in NTSC mode with the original oscillator has line and frame rates that are about 1% slow - not much, but annoying once you know about it). It's more than annoying, if you play Japanese DDR games on an PAL con...

Re: 240v on SCPH-1000 Power supply?

Thank you for a long explanation guys. Yeah, lesson learnt lol. Luckily i have extra PSU from a broken console and its rated with 250V. I will replace the capacitor for the broken PSU soon. Just one quick question. Lets say if it pops@blows up while the 7 or 5 pins cable is connected to motherboards...
