Reminds me of this project a few years ago. If they can get a calculator online, then it must certainly be possible to connect a ps1.
If I remember, some organization has a history of using arrays of playstation 2/3's to make a supercomputer!

Re: Pure vs enhanced PS1
Even though PS1 emulators are both numerous and expansive, it is still hard to configure certain games (MGS, Vib-Ribbon, etc...). I always play a game on hardware first, then I try it on the computer to see how good looking I can get it. It's kind of amazing to see how you can make a few games look ...

Pure vs enhanced PS1
In other communities, especially NES and SNES, there exist two different groups of players. Some only play games how they were intended (ex. on hardware or with 100% accuracy emulators), while others use emulators with enhancement plugins. In the PS1 world there are various emulators; and with these...

Protecting the PS1 from Power Surges/Spikes
Hello all, I recently got slightly worried during a thunderstorm that my sensitive electronics might be rendered useless by a nearby lightning strike. From my experiences, power surges and spikes can happen at any time of the day, regardless of weather conditions. For example, my last computer's pow...

Re: [TUTORIAL] Catflap and Caetla on Windows XP
This version gets as far as to search for the PS1, but ends up hanging there. I'm still experimenting though, I feel like this could work.Greg wrote:Sirrico use PSEXE ver 2.08, maybe try the ver 2.15 that support parallel port?
I not able to test it right now, but you can found it in the attached file.

Re: [TUTORIAL] Catflap and Caetla on Windows XP
I never tried CATFLAP when I was attempting to get my Xplorer to work 2 years ago. I was using PSEXE.COM. Does that work too for you? PSEXE.COM -P10 MAIN.EXE http://s28.postimg.org/3r8fxwz8p/psexe.jpg Doesn't seem like any of the ports work... PSEXE is 16 bit, correct? That might be a problem on XP...

[TUTORIAL] Catflap and Caetla on Windows XP
Hello all, this is a tutorial on how to develop for the PS1 on Windows XP. Many people report problems when attempting to send data to a Playstation on an XP system, but through this configuration I've been successful. You will need: -XP computer with integrated DB-25 (printer) port -DB-25 female to...

Re: Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
By the way, please elaborate in detailed depth how you managed to get the Xplorer working under Windows XP. It will help others in the future should they stumble upon this topic after a search engine places them here ;) Sure, I'll write up a tutorial in a little while and edit in a hyperlink here t...

Re: Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
Okay all! This is quite possibly the most friendly community around. I very much look forward to the updated X-flash, thank you everybody who lent a helping hand. And just so we know, here is a video of my problem. However, I think if I flash the newest Greg image with defaulted NTSC settings, I wil...

Re: Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
Ah, well, if 0.35 works and you don't care about saving the settings, then you don't need the 29EE020 Sirrico. Thanks as usual LameGuy :) Thanks as usual, but it seems .35 also does some strange scrollings... That's fine though. .37 and .35 actually run from a x-flash disk from Orion_'s site, albei...

Re: Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
Yours seems to be giving a bad signal though. It did flash okay, so X-Killer did work. The consoles you have tried the Xplorer on are all NTSC. Do you have a PAL PSX you can try it on? I'm afraid you might need to do a colour modification to the 5501 (a real pain). Contradicting myself, i'm almost ...

Re: Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
That's very weird. The only thing I can think of is that standard Xplorers are 256KB and the FX is 512KB, and the CAETLA ROM isn't being flashed correctly into the 512KB addressing (data alignment problem) thus making it not boot. There was someone on the forums who got CAETLA working under the FX,...

Xplorer FX and X-Flash: Black Screens
Howdy. After much expense, my Xplorer FX is here. I've downloaded X-Flash and gone about flashing the cartridge. But every rom (Caetla .34, .35, .37) ends in a black screen without boot upon reset, regardless of whether the Xplorer is switched on or off. Is there some special method I am missing? Th...

Re: Why are my TIMs Displayed Garbled?
Here's a good example on how to display TIMs properly: That's some mighty fine code, thanks! What program are you using to save TIMs as C files? I'm using GIMP, myself, and it doesn't seem to put it in the right format, maybe an incorrect header or something. I was also able to get Orion_'s code to...

Could you show some of your code? Mainly the image drawing part. Here is one set of code I'm using, coming from Orion_'s libraries. #include "System.h" #include "Sound.h" #include "Sprite.h" #include "DataManager.h" //#define CD_AUDIO_EXAMPLE // Uncomment thi...

Why are my TIMs Displayed Garbled?
I've been following a few tutorials on using TIM files and I can't seem to get it right. Every time I try to display an image on the screen, the colors end up garbled. http://s11.postimg.org/eshykietr/why.jpg http://s28.postimg.org/jcte5g88p/why2.jpg The left image is the program as it is run throug...

[TUTORIAL] Replacing SCPH-1001 ACM Laser with BAM
Many people prefer the SCPH-1001 model Playstation due to the extra input/output ports on the back, but this first model Playstation wasn't without its problems. The SCPH-1001 dies a lot quicker than other models because the slide the laser reader moves upon is made out of plastic. As the laser move...

Re: Connecting a PS1 to Modern Computer via PSXSERIAL
They say it's a Xplorer FX, but they ship instead a Xplorer v2, not a FX, I bought from Charliediscount on Amazon in jun 2014, but they still claim selling a xplorer FX. You can change from PAL to NTSC in the menu. Contacted the seller to be sure, and they only sell the Xplorer v2. The rest of the ...
