Re: Duplicating the offical 12v DC Power supply?

Thanks for the pictures! Sorry for the extremly late response, got caught up in school and things. Could you maybe take a picture of the two chips that have the big metal heatsinks on them? I'm trying to see actual chip numbers. Actually, any three legged chips would be helpful to have a picture of....

Duplicating the offical 12v DC Power supply?

TL;DR, I'm asking if anyone here has a blue 12v debug unit that they can take apart for some detail pictures of the DC PSU and how it works. For science. (or maybe just for better audio quality, whichever.) Long version: So, I've been looking into modding my SCPH-1001 into a CD player using this fin...

Re: PSX CD-Player only Project

Sorry for the long post, but I have a lot of questions. So I'm thinking of using this mod on my own PS1, but I don't really have as much access to parts as you people. Basically, I'm wondering if it is possible to substitute certain aspects. I saw in the beginning you were using an Arduino in order ...

Re: Marilyn Fan-game Project Thread

If the drive and media doesn't support the write speed you selected, it will progress through the ATIP's write speeds and read the firmware from the drive until a match is found, in which case it select it and burns with it. It makes perfect sense. The data can be written quicker than (in the case ...

Re: Marilyn Fan-game Project Thread

Burning at 2x is useless nowadays since CD-ROM burners are much better to what they used to be in the 90's. Most if not all CD-R's now do not support 2x support in their ATIP. Your drive also has to support 2x speed for burning. The slowest I get is 16x with my drive and discs. Well if it's burning...

Re: Marilyn Fan-game Project Thread

Heh, not completely lucky, since the very first PS1 I got (also a 5501) seems to have been chipped, but then subsequently destroyed by someone basically grabbing the chip and pulling it off, taking traces and other important things with it (either that or they tried desoldering with, like, a clothin...

Re: Marilyn Fan-game Project Thread

Version 0.12 still doesn't play XA audio on my SCPH-5502. When I get my DTL-H2010 CD-ROM drive, I can start debugging because I am also seeing VSync timeouts. I have my own SCPH-5501 with a modchip that I literally got yesterday, and the current version works perfectly fine, music and all. XA audio...
