No$PSX BIOS (kernel) legal status?

Hi Martin,
The only licensing information regarding your No$PSX BIOS that I could find is on your site:

The BIOS is emulated via a BIOS-clone, which is free and faster than the original PSX-BIOS. There may be still some compatibility issues (especially as most PSX games are applying patches to the ...

Re: Is it possible to run games off an Action Replay cartridge? Perhaps Net Yaroze games with Caetla?

Is it possible to somehow run games off an Action Replay cartridge?

Looking at the question again, I would say yes possibly using: https://github.com/upx/upx

RS's Adventure game is 1.42MB made up of libps.exe, NY executable and assets.
Using upx with --best --force, it got it down to 402KB ...

Re: Formula One 2000 Issue

Why all the "I think" you ask?, well because around mid 2010's, I remember having issues with Net Yaroze code playing CDDA audio on no$psx, and I tried mednafen and it just worked. And it stuck with me but I tested it now and my NY CDDA also worked. So :shrug

Re: PS1 Netplay Dongle for Controller Port 2 (Idea)

Emulators cheat because they can do anything via software

I'm not a hardware guy or do any low level stuff but memcard/controller port does have a timing signal for light guns, so the device could just count those.
This is what software receives from the hardware

Interesting idea! In theory it should work, I think the hard part would be sync'ing the games.
Hope you get better in hospital!

Re: Alternate CD player software for PSX

I'm not familiar with pysq's low level libraries, but I guess you would be managing everything yourself.

So, I would guess you would read the CDROM, as in low level data ie raw data bytes from sectors.
You would then maintain a circular array or list, a buffer to store the data. I don't think ...

Re: for Fast Iteration Testing

Does anyone here integrate NO$PSX into their build process for quick testing of small code changes? How do you typically load your compiled executables or data into the emulator efficiently for rapid debugging cycles?

Welcome!
I use the previous version where the command line works and launch ...

Please don't advertise on the forums when it's got nothing to do with PlayStation development. That's the second time you did it. I've been monitoring your posts recently, and the stuff you've been posting isn't even really all that helpful. It's always just "your own two cents" on post after post ...

Re: TTY comms via serial link support.

I have no idea what you are talking about... a tty text output hardware game that was made by someone?
But whatever you mean, I have probably already emulated that.

Sorry, I often can't find the right words to explain things, MasterLink is correct.

TTY is a two way protocol (typically over a ...

TTY comms via serial link support

Hi Martin.

There is someone making a Net Yaroze game with serial link cable communication between two PS1's.
And there is no support for the serial link cable in NY, apart from the TTY functions, ie ioctl and open/close, read/write etc.
Seem to have managed to do it and it's working on hardware ...

Install https://mendelson.org/ntvdmx64.html for 16bit support in win x64

But I thought ccpsx is 32bit and works in x64 (not sure either way).

Re: Alternate CD player software for PSX

I don't know of any.
But I think it wouldn't be that hard to code that feature, to speed it up, you just remove samples, to slow it down you just duplicated them. I'm not 100% sure that's correct I've never done it.

I tried to upload the file via serial, with NOPS, several times but it always gets stuck at about 37%. To be safe I downloaded the file a second time but the result did not change. :shrug

I think the CDROM support on no$psx isn't 100% yet, but I don't know.
I think there shouldn't be any "not found" in that TTY log.

Re: [Hardware Mod] 8MB in (PU-18) Retail PSX

Could someone please, with a 8MB mod mind testing my PSX.EXE?
Basically, it's a .cpe program from the SDK which does the MIME animation, converted to a psx.exe with the media appended to it in the correct 8MB memory locations.

Hi ok it is just I know it can be done cos on this website
https://infu.fyi/music-software-ps1-nerdy

That guide explains what to do.
You extract the files from the disc image, I would use cdmage.
Then follow the "EDITING SAMPLE LIBRARY" section.

Looking at the wadtool feature list page, it ...
