Re: CD-decoder ROM dumped

i think you'd better translate in English, else way i can understand less than the 5% of the content. Anyway, i am replacing the PSX bios with a piece of custom firmware, it should be interesting to use the CD-decoder 68hc05 in such a way, what do you suggest ? In my firmware i have the full control...

Re: Ultimate Playstation Project.. Please help!

A pretty proof of concept video of PSIO PSIO is a cartridge that plug's into the back of your PlayStation 1 console, which will let you play your backed up PlayStation 1 games from an SD card. It will also allow you to boot and run code you have programmed from an SD card on the actual PlayStation 1...

Re: replacing the bios with a custom piece of bareboard firm

Thanks, i am also studying yaboot, pretty sources for R3000, too Everything You Have Always Wanted to Know about the Playstation But Were Afraid to Ask. [...] The R3000A is configured for litle-endian byte order and defines a word as 32-bits, a half-word, as 16-bits, and a byte as 8-bits. The Status...

could someone suggest me a bit of early boot assembler ? just the first things the R3000 should do in order to be pretty initialized.

Re: replacing the bios with a custom piece of bareboard firm

i could look for the Yamon (1) source code in order to write an extremely easy and essential earlyboot ? what do you think ?

(1) it is the firmware used in Atlas and Malta boards, developed by MIPS inc
I've got an Atlas board, it is MIPS32-r2, while PSX is MIPS-R3K ...

Re: PSone BIOS modding project

bios is sourced by 3.3v. )) but in some cases AR used 5v flash IC. it gets from 7.5v from parralel-io through down dc/dc converter yes, i confirm: 1) PSOne has MASK-Rom.vcc=3.3V 2) Playstation1 has MASK-Rom.vcc=3.3V my AR has a 29xxx flash (in DIP package) with vcc=5V through an LDO regulator 7805 ...

Re: Ultimate Playstation Project.. Please help!

well, first of all: where do you plug the pATA interface ? On the PIO ? So you have to design a new PIO interface, as i am doing just in order to have 4x32bit latches to handle a C9800 (level voltage adapted to 3.3V) net board. A lot of work to produce the PCB and solder the chip, than the device is...

Re: PSX Keyboard and Mouse Adaptor (SCPH-2000 Prototype)

where have you seen SCPH-2000 Prototype ?
are them destroyed by SONY ?

About the PIO, I am planning to add a C8900 (ethernet 10Mbit/sec) , and a NVram of 2Mbyte to Playstation1.

Re: SIO Low Level Access

Is it SONY custom hw and protocol ? I know the PAD signals and protocol from the memorycard point of view, i don't know how the playstation is generating and handling bits, from what i see there is a dedicated hw which simply require a control_status, and a buffer to read/write from/to. So ... i don...

Re: replacing the bios with a custom piece of bareboard firm

About the PAD ... it may be it is similar to SPI, it is not clear to me how it works, but it may be it could be used to attach an SPI-ethernet board to be used with UDP/IP in order to have a faster upload/download.

This topic is about CPU-SIO-PAD

replacing the bios with a custom piece of bareboard firmware

why ? because i'd like to have a MIPS board to toy with, directly in assembly and C, without having to fight with the magic of what SONY has put inside her Mask Rom. I'd like to have only the SIO support and nothing else except the PAD. I have desoldered the PSOne bios and wire soldered all the bios...

Re: SIO Library for Tails's SDK

A data byte can be read when SIO_STAT.1=1

Code: Select all

uint8_t ReadByteSIO()
{
        while ( ((*SIO_STAT & 0x2)>>1) !=1 )
                {
                /* wait */
                }
        return *SIO_RX;
}
